Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, has already returned to Luanda, coming from Equatorial Guinea, where he participated in the extraordinary summit of ECCAS aimed at providing the organization with leadership.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Summit of a few hours, which took place this Monday, in the town of Djibloho, also aimed to avoid the legal vacuum, following the coup d’e\u0301tat that took place in Gabon and which deposed the elected President, Ali Bongo Ondinga.<\/p>\n

At the Luanda Military Air Base, the Angolan Head of State received greetings from the President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, and members of the Executive.<\/p>\n

In the early hours of Wednesday (30) a group of military personnel from the Gabonese army announced a coup d’e\u0301tat, on national television, after the release of the results of the general elections in that country.<\/p>\n

The deposed Head of State of Gabon assumed, last February, the rotating leadership of ECCAS, replacing his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Fe\u0301lix Tshisekedi.<\/p>\n

The Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) was created in Libreville, Gabon, in December 1981, becoming operational only in 1985.<\/p>\n

The Community comprises Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Rwanda, Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).<\/p>\n
