Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The first day of classes in the country was marked by the poor participation of students in several public-private general education schools.<\/b><\/p>\n

In some localized schools, mainly in the urban core of the city of Luanda, few white coats were seen in the classrooms, so the teachers appealed to those in charge to take the students to the schools.<\/p>\n

As an example, at the Nzinga Mbandi school, some students and teachers timidly arrived at the educational institution for the first day of classes.<\/p>\n

According to a teacher, who preferred to remain anonymous, poor student compliance is normal, much to the fault of guardians who only send their children a week later, among other things, suggesting greater strictness on the part of parents.<\/p>\n

“It is important to instil a sense of responsibility in children’s minds, because if they know that they only have to go to classes a week after the start, it will continue like this for the rest of their lives”, he said.<\/p>\n

Education manager Manuela Alexandre said it was necessary to encourage children to be in the classroom on the first day and not the other way around, underlining the duty of parents to accompany their children, even if only on the first day of school.<\/p>\n

“Even knowing that there will be almost no classes this week, they have to be present at school and it is important to have contact with the school, teachers and colleagues on the first day”, he said.<\/p>\n

Some students from the Ngola Nzinga school, such as Patri\u0301cia Regina, showed up just to get in touch with the lists and the rooms where they are going to attend classes, as, he said, in the first week there will be almost no classes as such, just revisions of subjects from previous classes.<\/p>\n

“I know that this first week is just for professors’ presentations and revisions, so today I didn’t come to attend classes, I just came to see the lists”, clarified the minor.<\/p>\n

Cazenga<\/p>\n

The low influx of students was also seen in several schools in the municipality of Cazenga, where the presence of teachers was significant and many supervisors were only checking the lists today.<\/p>\n

At Escola Primaria 3034, the teaching staff attended, but the students did not, according to its director Esperanc\u0327a dos Santos, who blamed the parents for not sending the boys.<\/p>\n

At secondary school 3043, better known as Escola Grande, the teachers were present and few students were still checking the lists, according to its director, Bartolomeu Fernando.<\/p>\n

With 4,625 students, distributed in 29 rooms in three shifts, the institution received 620 new students this academic year in the specialties of Legal, Physical and Technological Sciences, as well as Humanities.<\/p>\n

In Magiste\u0301rio 3118, located in Urbanizac\u0327a\u0303o da Marconi, a good number of students were present, as well as the teachers, according to its head, Rui Domingos, who highlighted the responsibility of students to attend on the first day of classes.<\/p>\n

Cunene<\/p>\n

The first day of classes in Cunene province was marked by considerable student absenteeism, but with the massive presence of teachers.<\/p>\n

In several institutions, in addition to the absence of students, in some schools in the city of Ondjiva, the delay in posting lists for forming classes.<\/p>\n

At the Oulondelo school, it was possible to notice the empty classrooms, due to the fact that some Sinda lists had not been posted, which led the students who were present to retire home.<\/p>\n

The director of the school, Esperanc\u0327a Wedeinge, said that there was an embarrassment in the placement of lists, but everything is being done for classes to start monday, but at night.<\/p>\n

At primary school 254, in the Naipalala neighbourhood, director Paulo Wedeinge said that the teachers are present, but few students showed up, appealing to parents and guardians to send their children to classes.<\/p>\n

He recalled that there is no reason for students to miss school, but for this to happen, it is important for parents to encourage their children in the first days, to impose \u201czero tolerance\u201d to absenteeism, aiming at improving the quality of teaching and learning.<\/p>\n

For his part, the provincial director of Education, Domingos de Oliveira, said that the rounds they made in the morning, in the schools in Ondjiva, noted a weak presence of students, hence the responsibility of parents to collaborate more to reverse the situation in the coming years. days.<\/p>\n

Lunda Sul<\/p>\n

Also in the province of Lunda Sul, the first day of classes was weak in terms of the presence of children in schools, despite the considerable presence of teachers.<\/p>\n

School directors defended that the number of students who showed up could have been greater if many had not traveled to other parts of the country on vacation.<\/p>\n

The director of the Missa\u0303o Feminina school, Ermelinda Joaquim, referred that the institution registered a low influx of students, justifying the fact that not all students have already returned to the province.<\/p>\n

On his turn, the director of the Provincial Office of Education, Perfeito Candondolo, reminded parents, guardians, students and teachers that the holiday period has already ended and they should now attend schools spread across the province.<\/p>\n

The 2023\/2024 academic year was officially opened, last Friday, in the province of Malanje, by the Minister of State for the Social Area, Dalva Ringote, who highlighted the entry of more than one million 560 thousand new students for the first time in education system, accounting for 17, 5 percent.<\/p>\n

The first quarter started (September 4) and ends on December 15, 2023, a period that corresponds to 17 weeks, of which 15 are academic, corresponding to 73 days.<\/p>\n

The second quarter will start on January 3rd and end on March 28th, 2024, during which the 2nd grade National Assessment (Reading Fluidity Proficiency), the 5th and 8th grade National Assessment (Learnings of Portuguese Language and Mathematics).<\/p>\n

As well as the realization of the provincial school games that go until the 15th of March and for the break of the second quarter, the organization of the zonal school games is reserved, to take place from the 1st to the 12th of April.<\/p>\n
