Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, granted, this Wednesday, an audience to the apostolic nuncio appointed to Pakistan, Dom Germano Penemote, of Angolan nationality, with whom he discussed matters linked to the religious mission he will begin. <\/b><\/p>\n

The priest, appointed by Pope Francis last June to the position of apostolic nuncio to Pakistan, entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See in July 2003 and worked in the apostolic nunciatures of Benin, Uruguay, Slovakia, Hungary, Peru and Romania.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press at the end of the audience, Dom Germano Penemote stated that, as ambassador, his mission is to strengthen relations between the Holy See and the Islamic State of Pakistan, in addition to working for the local Catholic Church.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am going to this mission with great pride, to meet my brothers in Pakistan, a new country for me. This is part of our work as priests and missionaries, as the Pope’s envoy. I am going with joy because there I will find the people of God\u201d, he expressed.<\/p>\n

Dom Germano Penemote was born on October 24, 1969, in the village of Ondobe, commune of Oximolo, municipality of Cuanhama, Angolan province of Cunene.<\/p>\n

He was ordained a priest on December 6, 1998, at the Omupanda mission, 10 kilometers from Ondjiva.<\/p>\n

Graduated from the Pontifical Lateran University, in Rome, in \u201cUtroque Iure\u201d (Canon and Civil Law), he is fluent in French, English, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.<\/p>\n
