Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The National Plan to Promote Grain Production (Planagra\u0303o), underway in Angola, will involve more women and young people, within the framework of the food security strategy.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was expressed by the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperanc\u0327a da Costa, in Nairobi (Kenya) when speaking on the panel \u201cInvesting in the Transformation of Food Systems in Africa\u201d, held on the sidelines of the African Summit on Climate.<\/p>\n

He added that the Angolan Government continued to work towards the diversification of the economy, as well as intensified the opening of the country to private investment.<\/p>\n

The strategy also aims to tackle the cereal shortage that has been worsening with the war in Ukraine, one of the main producers in this segment.<\/p>\n

The minister underlined that at this stage investments are being made in various aspects of the national agricultural sector, with the adoption of sustainable practices.<\/p>\n

As part of this commitment, farmers are benefiting from improved seeds, credit and technical training.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have not yet reached what is desirable, which is active participation in agribusiness and in the development of the agricultural value chain\u201d, admitted Esperanc\u0327a da Costa, who recognized the role of women in family farming, which represents around 70 percent of production national.<\/p>\n

The Planagra\u0303o envisages ensuring access to energy and water in the areas where the project will be implemented, the recovery of silos, warehouses and railway lines, in accordance with the priorities to be defined by the Ministry of Agriculture.<\/p>\n

Budgeted at 2.8 billion kwanzas, Panagra\u0303o is being developed in the provinces of Moxico, Lunda Sul, Lunda Norte and Cuando Cubango and other regions of the country with climatic conditions for the production of corn, soy, wheat and rice.<\/p>\n

Plan data indicate that of the 2.8 billion kwanzas, 1.6 billion (kwanzas) are intended to finance the private sector, within the framework of the Angola Development Bank (BDA) strategy.<\/p>\n
