Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The country has a poverty rate of around 54 percent, which means that five out of every 10 Angolans are poor, said the provincial governor of Bengo, Maria Anto\u0301nio Nelumba, in Caxito thursday.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the opening of the III provincial Social Action review conference for 2018-2022, he said that the financial crisis, climate change, drought, floods and other elements contributed to the increase in poverty in Angola.<\/p>\n

The lack of food, quality of housing, access to appropriate water and civil registration were highlighted by the government official as being the most common deprivations that the population faces.<\/p>\n

By the way, the government official reaffirmed that the Executive will continue to work to improve the social conditions of families in the region.<\/p>\n

To this end, he said, the Executive will continue the program to combat hunger and poverty, monetary transfers (Kwenda), the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) and others.<\/p>\n

He recognized that the current state of poverty in Angola has not left the Executive unaware.<\/p>\n

Lasting one day, the meeting aimed to analyze the integration of services that contribute to the implementation of the national social action policy with a view to improving the quality of life of people and families in situations of vulnerability and poverty.<\/p>\n

The social action conference analyzed topics related to the prevention and protection of citizens in vulnerable situations and social promotion and citizenship.<\/p>\n
