Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Attorney General of Mozambique, Beatriz Buchili, expressed this Wednesday, in Lubango, interest in the experience of the Public Ministry (MP) of Angola, in defense, protection of mineral resources and prevention of damage to the environment.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking during a one-day visit to Hui\u0301la, the magistrate stated that due to the nature of the province, where mineral resources are prospected, it is important to see the MP’s challenges in combating crimes in this segment.<\/p>\n

He declared that the illegal exploitation of mining resources is one of the areas that must be intervened to protect a country’s wealth, due to the financing of terrorism, money laundering, among other evils that harm the population.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to see how local prosecutors intervene in these areas, with agriculture and other investments also thriving, a task that requires strengthening the protection of these resources, through judicial intervention to provide legal security to investors\u201d, he explained.<\/p>\n

He mentioned that in his country, one of the challenges faced as MP, in the powers of controlling legality, where it is often violated, by the granting of illegal licenses for the exploration of mineral resources, involves the commitment to capacity building and training of its magistrates.<\/p>\n

He reinforced that the visit to the province, in addition to seeing the Angolan MP’s experience in defending and protecting these mineral resources and environmental violations, also gives the contribution of Mozambique, which has similar problems.<\/p>\n

Beatriz Buchili referred to the challenge of opening the Court of Auditors and is counting on Angola to help prepare the legislative component and train magistrates.<\/p>\n

When speaking about the intervention of the Attorney General’s Office in such crimes in Angola, the Attorney General of Angola, He\u0301lder Pitta Gro\u0301z, said that the first level of intervention must be local power and security bodies and when it fails, it is the Public Ministry enters.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe think we cannot go to extremes. We want to strengthen the intervention of municipalities at the level of administrations and security bodies, \u201dhe said.<\/p>\n

He considered Hui\u0301la as an example of good governance in the country over recent years, which is why he made the visit with his counterpart from Mozambique.<\/p>\n

He reinforced that the relationship between the two institutions is old and has been used to train new Angolan magistrates in Mozambique and vice versa.<\/p>\n
