Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The border between the province of Cunene and Namibia gained the first technological control and surveillance system in the country Thursday, inaugurated by the general commander of the National Police (PN), Arnaldo Carlos.<\/b><\/p>\n

This is the Command and Control Center installed in the border town of Santa Clara, which includes a 16 meter high tower, viewing cameras within a radius of 27 km and radar 30 km away.<\/p>\n

It also has nine computers, 10 operators and will work with electronic cameras and combined satellite communication systems, to detect and confirm any crime on the border perimeter.<\/p>\n

In his intervention, the head of the Cunene Border Surveillance System Management department, Intendant Nelson Francisco, explained that with this system information reached operators in real time.<\/p>\n

He said that, in addition to the radiotechnical command post, there are mobile posts, drones, detention systems and other means that will be integrated into the hybrid platform, which will add real-time information technologies.<\/p>\n

He made it known that operators will have the opportunity to visualize crimes along the border and immediately communicate them to the reaction team for intervention on the ground.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe aforementioned center has collective command characteristics, which integrate different bodies, such as the Customs Tax Police, AGT and others that operate along the border perimeter\u201d, he informed.<\/p>\n

Nelson Francisco said that the project foresees, for the Cunene border, the installation of five radiotechnical posts, combined with mobile means that will provide general coverage.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, General Commissioner Arnaldo Carlos said that with the inauguration of the control command center they had taken a significant step in the field of technological integration, concerning border inspection and security.<\/p>\n

He stated that, from this post, the technological infrastructures will produce information that will be forwarded to the center, to be passed on to intervention teams in situations that occur in the perimeter.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe gain represents a significant change for us in border work, especially in reducing the number of personnel on the ground and intervening only when necessary\u201d, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

He informed that this first command and control center installed in Santa Clara is a mirror of the work that will continue in other border provinces, such as Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul, Zaire and Cuando Cubango.<\/p>\n

The general commissioner made it known that they have all the equipment, the only thing missing is assembly to cover the entire length of the border, as it is essential to guarantee the integrity of the national territory.<\/p>\n

He recalled that the Executive is committed to the technological modernization of technological border control procedures, as a way of combating illegal immigration, merchandise smuggling and other crimes.<\/p>\n

In the border area of \u200b\u200bSanta Clara, at milestone 19, the general commander proceeded to lay the stone for the installation of another forward-c radiotechnical observation post, with a viewing radius of 27 km and a radar of 30 km.<\/p>\n

The province of Cunene shares 460 kilometers of border with the Republic of Namibia, 340 of which are land and 120 are river.<\/p>\n
