Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Twenty-six new lawyers will receive this Friday (8), in the city of Lobito, province of Benguela, their final certificates to practice the profession, after more than 24 months of preparation.<\/b><\/p>\n

This information was provided this Thursday to Ra\u0301dio Benguela, by the President of the Provincial Council of the Angolan Bar Association, Jose\u0301 Faria.<\/p>\n

According to the official, who represents the defense of the rights and guarantees of the citizen is the lawyer. “Under the terms of articles 193, 194 and following of the Constitution of the Republic of Angola, the OAA is an essential institution for the administration of justice”, he stressed.<\/p>\n

With these 26, the number of professionals with ID cards in Benguela rises to 636, however, this is still below what is desired for a population estimated at around two million inhabitants, he said.<\/p>\n

“Although we are thinking that, with the recent admission, in the last national exam of the class, this year we will have the delivery of trainee lawyer certificates to 210 professionals from Benguela who approved”, he emphasized.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Jose\u0301 Faria focused on the Judicial Sponsorship of citizens, a constitutionally guaranteed right (Art. 29 CRA).<\/p>\n

He explained that this issue is a monopoly of the State, which attributed it to the Bar Association, because justice cannot be denied to anyone due to insufficient economic means.<\/p>\n

“Anyone who does not have the financial capacity to hire a lawyer, but who needs one to guarantee their fundamental rights, can request their defense from the OAA, whose lawyer is appointed through a lottery”, he stated.<\/p>\n

The President of the Provincial Council of the Bar Association explained that this lawyer has the obligation, under the terms of the Statutes and the Code of Ethics of that institution, to carry out the effective defense of the citizen in question.<\/p>\n

“Whoever pays this lawyer is not the citizen in need, but the State, through the National Council of the Angolan Bar Association”, he added.<\/p>\n

By the way, Jose\u0301 Faria informed that the State annually allocates a financial quota to the National Council and it receives from the provincial councils the copies, reports and pending issues in which this lawyer intervened, to immediately proceed with the settlement of the amounts owed.<\/p>\n
