Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Ten thousand and 824 families in vulnerable situations in the municipality of Mussende, Cuanza Sul province, will benefit from the \u201cKwenda\u201d Social Monetary Transfer Program.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was provided by the provincial director of the Local Development Institute (FAS), Carolina Sanito, adding that the program will cover households in the main municipalities, Sa\u0303o Lucas and Kenha.<\/p>\n

According to the person in charge, who spoke during Kwenda’s presentation to the members of the consultation council for the communities in the district, the process of validating the data recently collected by Adecos is currently underway, with a view to subsequently beginning the registration of beneficiary families.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the person responsible recalled that Kwenda allocated a value of 25 thousand and 500 kwanzas quarterly to each household, an amount that was increased to Kz 33 thousand.<\/p>\n

For his part, the municipal administrator of Mussende, Jose\u0301 Eduardo, highlighted the importance of the project in combating poverty and promoting entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe population of the municipality has been waiting for this moment for a long time. For this reason, we hope that the beneficiaries will know how to use the amounts in various projects, to support their families\u201d, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

In the province of Cuanza Sul, 117 thousand and 402 households are registered in 12 communes and 955 neighborhoods and villages in the municipalities of Ebo, Seles, Quilenda and Cassongue.<\/p>\n

Of these, 65,564 families already benefit from the program, in an investment of more than six billion kwanzas.<\/p>\n

Created in 2020, Kwenda is an Angolan Executive program, which aims to create policies to support the most vulnerable families.<\/p>\n

Operationalized by the Social Support Fund, the project lasts three years and covers four components, namely Monetary Social Transfers, Productive Inclusion, Municipalization of Social Action and Reinforcement of the Single Social Registry.<\/p>\n

It is valued at US$420 million and is financed by the World Bank, with US$320 million. The other 100 million comes from the National Treasury.<\/p>\n

The municipality of Mussende is 310 kilometers from Sumbe, the provincial capital, and has an estimated population of more than 107 thousand inhabitants.<\/p>\n
