Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The city council of Arpino, Italy, paid tribute, on Wednesday, to the first president of Angola, Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto, as part of the centenary of his birth.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a note sent Thursday during the event, the mayor of Arpino, Vittorio Sgarbi, recalled that Agostinho Neto’s first published work was translated into Italian, in a translation by the poet Joice Lusso, for project Neto’s poetry to the world.<\/p>\n

For her part, the Angolan ambassador to Italy, Fa\u0301tima Jardim, recognized that Italy has played an essential role of solidarity with Portuguese-speaking African countries.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis dialogue honors us greatly\u201d, as Agostinho Neto passed through Italy and here recorded An exhibition called “Tunde\u0301 ku Ginga Kate\u0301 ku Mulemba”, which means (From Queen Ginga to Mulemba Xangola), by artist Lino Damia\u0303o, opened this Thursday at the Anita Guerreiro Headquarters Gallery, in Lisbon .<\/p>\n

The exhibition opens on the 14th of September and runs until the 30th of the current month.<\/p>\n

Lino Damia\u0303o stresses that he uses the painting on paper technique in his works, portraying the history of Angola through the geography of Luanda.<\/p>\n

“I’m talking about Rainha Ginga and the route of our Luanda, from Rua Rainha Ginga to Mulemba Xango\u0302la”, he said.<\/p>\n

He appealed to Lisbon residents to visit the exhibition, as it brought an interesting message.<\/p>\n

Lino Damia\u0303o was born in Luanda. He was influenced by his father to embark on the plastic arts, starting with drawing and painting, having received, in 1989, the UNAP Painting Prize.<\/p>\n

He has lived between Lisbon and Angola since 2012. He has made more than a dozen individual shows, nine in Angola and six in Portugal, as well as participating in more than 40 group exhibitions in the cities of Porto, Lisbon, Aveiro, Odivelas and Leiria. the contribution that the country made to the end of fascism and Portuguese colonialism, as well as to the independence of Angola, after 500 years of colonization.<\/p>\n

The ceremony was attended by Angolan diplomats, poets, men of culture and Italian politicians.<\/p>\n
