Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Katyavala Bwila University and the Integrated Center for Studies and Conflict Resolution (Harmonia) signed, this Saturday (9), a cooperation agreement in the field of training.<\/b><\/p>\n

The ceremony took place at the UKB Rectory and the signatories were Paulino Lucamba, dean of the Faculty of Law, and Jose\u0301 Semedo, from Centro Harmonia.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, Paulino Lucamba informed that Harmonia will collaborate in the process of creating, by UKB, a Center for Studies on Extra-judicial Conflict Resolution.<\/p>\n

According to the person responsible, the Faculty of Law intends, with this agreement, to increase efficiency and speed in resolving conflicts, without neglecting the side of legal certainty.<\/p>\n

Paulino Lucamba said that Centro Harmonia’s mentor has experience in the field of international arbitration and that he is a manager with the rigor and moderation of a magistrate.<\/p>\n

However, Jose\u0301 Semedo, head of the Integrated Center for Studies and Conflict Resolution, considers that the signed agreement is a historic milestone and one of great responsibility for the UKB law school, as it will bring hope in arbitration, mediation and conflict conciliation. , in the province of Benguela.<\/p>\n

The aforementioned center, which already operates at the Grego\u0301rio Semedo University, in Luanda, is the first in Angola in this field, focusing on people’s lives and heritage.<\/p>\n

He made it known that arbitrators have the same function as judges, as they resolve conflicts in accordance with the legislation on the matter in dispute.<\/p>\n

He clarified that the centers have an important role in helping the State guarantee access to the law and effective judicial protection, as it (the State) alone will not be able to resolve disputes in society.<\/p>\n

“Citizens have the right to obtain a fair decision within a quick period of time”, he emphasized.<\/p>\n

He mentioned that arbitrators, when resolving conflicts, are civilly and criminally responsible for the damages they cause to the parties.<\/p>\n

The Vice-Rector of UKB, Jose\u0301 Kalelessa, who witnessed the ceremony, said that the act is of great significance for the institution which, through its Faculty of Law, will create an arbitration center to help courts resolve problems resulting from various causes.<\/p>\n

The act was witnessed by academics and students.<\/p>\n
