Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Less than three months before the Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace in Africa, also called the Luanda Biennial, to be held in the country (for the 3rd time), next November, the greatest possible benefit is expected in around the themes to be addressed, including Education, an important pillar for the development of humanity.<\/b><\/p>\n

Taking place under the motto \u201cEducation, Culture of Peace and African Citizenship as Tools for the Sustainable Development of the Continent\u201d, the three-day event (22 to 24\/November) is a joint organization of the Government of Angola, the African Union (AU) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).<\/p>\n

The same takes place, coincidentally, at a time when one of the segments of the educational process, specifically the Education sector, increasingly seeks to reference the \u201crole\u201d and consequent value of the educator and education in contributing to the transformation of a society.<\/p>\n

The importance of the trinomial teacher\/education\/transformation can be understood, or reflected, in the motto defined for the current academic year (2023\/2024), officially opened on September 1st in the country, according to which \u201ctransformation in education begins with the teacher”.<\/p>\n

In general, education constitutes a fundamental factor in the social progress of a country, as it provides, on different scales, levels of knowledge, as well as the \u201cpower to transform thoughts, behaviors and forms of coexistence between different societies\u201d .<\/p>\n

Among the themes to be addressed in the 3rd edition of the biennial are \u201cthe process of transforming educational systems and innovative financing practices in the African context\u201d, \u201cyoung people, actors in promoting the culture of peace and social transformations on the continent\u201d and \u201c the challenges and opportunities of the integration of the African continent and the prospect of economic growth\u201d.<\/p>\n

The agenda also includes topics on \u201ctechnology and education as tools to achieve gender equality\u201d and \u201cclimate change: ethical challenges, impacts, adaptation and vulnerability\u201d.<\/p>\n

The cultural chapter will reserve a program with visits to artistic institutions, museums and historical places, with a series of public and official actions being carried out in the preparatory phase, with emphasis on the International Forum on Women for Peace and Democracy.<\/p>\n

As part of the preparation for the 2023 Biennale, the action plan was assessed, at the end of last June, by the multisectoral committee responsible for creating the conditions for its implementation, during a meeting led by the Minister of State for the Social Area, Dalva Ringote.<\/p>\n

The meeting evaluated, among others, the activity plan and the allocation of institutional responsibilities between the three main participants in the event, namely the Government of Angola, the African Union and UNESCO.<\/p>\n

The third edition of the biennial, like the previous ones, appears to be a privileged space for promoting cultural diversity and African unity, in which participants will have the opportunity to discuss and define strategies for the prevention of violence and conflicts, with a view to to the \u201cconstruction\u201d of lasting peace on the continent.<\/p>\n

This reflection and concertation platform brings together, in addition to governments, members of civil society, the artistic and scientific community, the private sector and international organizations.<\/p>\n

However, Angola, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, has contributed greatly to pacification in Africa.<\/p>\n

In May 2022, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o was awarded the title of champion of peace and reconciliation in Africa, by the African Union (AU), as a result of the efforts that the country has been undertaking at the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL), in the search for peace, dialogue and stability in several countries on the continent.<\/p>\n

Recognition was expressed in Malabo, capital of Equatorial Guinea, during the Summit of Heads of State and Government of this regional organization.<\/p>\n

In recent times, the country’s resourcefulness has practically translated the national territory into a \u201cturntable\u201d when it comes to political consultation and resolution of matters linked to the management and security of conflicts on the continent.<\/p>\n

Africa learned about the Angolan experience in matters of this kind, based on actions surrounding the pacification of the Great Lakes region and peacekeeping missions at regional level, with emphasis on mediation in the conflict between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Rwanda.<\/p>\n

The Luanda Biennial is a platform that aims to promote actions that contribute to strengthening the Pan-African movement and maintaining a culture of peace and non-violence on the continent and in the world, anchored in the aspirations of the African Union, i.e. is, in the commitment to guarantee an integrated, peaceful and prosperous Africa, in which its children assume a supportive position in the ongoing processes of economic and social transformation.<\/p>\n
