Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The second provincial secretary of the MPLA in Cuanza Sul, Anto\u0301nio Wenga Franco, praised Saturday, in the municipality of Amboim, the work carried out by the Commission for Reconciliation in Memory of the Victims of Political Conflicts (CIVICOP), in favor of consolidating peace and national reconciliation.<\/b><\/p>\n

When intervening in a mass political event, in the commune of Assango, the party leader said that this program implemented by the Executive has allowed the location of the bones of victims of the political-military conflicts that took place in the country from 1975 to 2002 and the consequent carrying out of proper funerals.<\/p>\n

For this reason, he appealed to party members, supporters and friends to support the work of CIVICOP, with a view to strengthening national unity and cohesion.<\/p>\n

“There is important work being carried out by CIVICOP, based on our culture, which is to return the remains of victims of political conflicts to their families. The location of the remains could take place throughout the country, hence the need to process will count on the collaboration of the population\u201d, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the official warned the party’s cadres and militants to remain vigilant in view of the pretense of political exploitation by some political parties in view of the current economic and financial situation that the country is going through.<\/p>\n

“We are aware of the difficulties that families are experiencing, due to the rise in prices of the basic basket. However, we are going to believe in better days because the Executive is working to improve the quality of life of the population”, he added.<\/p>\n

CIVICOP was created in 2019, under the guidance of the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, with a view to drawing up a general plan to honor the victims of the political conflicts that took place in Angola between 11 November 1975 (independence day) and 4 April. 2002 (end of the war).<\/p>\n

The Reconciliation Plan in Memory of the Victims of Political Conflicts provides, among other issues, the issuance of a death certificate and the construction of a single memorial for all victims of political conflicts registered in the country.<\/p>\n
