Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo, stated, this Monday, in the province of Bengo, that the Barra do Dande Ocean Terminal (TOBD) will help eliminate the floating storage of petroleum derivatives in the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, on the sidelines of the visit of the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, to the project, the minister explained that floating storage is more expensive, requires more security and affects the country’s autonomy in petroleum derivatives.<\/p>\n

According to the government official, the TOBD project aims to create conditions for the implementation of presidential decrees on strategic reserves and national reserves.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to create conditions so that the country has greater autonomy in terms of supplying the national market with petroleum derivatives\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

According to the minister, exports are not the main objective of the project, but whenever there is excess storage capacity, expansion will be carried out to regional markets, essentially in the DRC and Zambia.<\/p>\n

He revealed that the petrochemical refining strategy allowed the improvement of the Luanda Refinery, which began to produce less waste and more gasoline.<\/p>\n

The government official congratulated Sonangol for its effort to finance the project, despite the difficulties.<\/p>\n

The TOBD will also be used to store green hydrogen, contributing to the energy transition and will have a factory for filling cooking gas cylinders.<\/p>\n

The Barra do Dande Ocean Terminal is being implemented in an area of \u200b\u200b390 hectares in two phases.<\/p>\n

The first involves the construction of 16 tanks with a storage capacity of 580 thousand cubic meters of gasoline, diesel and LPG.<\/p>\n

In total, the project includes 29 tanks with a storage capacity of 724 thousand cubic meters.<\/p>\n
