Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The need to preserve the collective memory and historical facts of Angolan sport, to encourage future generations, was urged (Tuesday), in Luanda, by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Palmira Barbosa.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the ceremony to hand over the book \u201cHomage to the Glories of the Past of Our Sport\u201d, at Galeria da Cidadela, the governor, who thanked the work and gesture of the authors of the work, called on other individuals to follow the same example in enriching the sector’s collection.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirstly, I would like to thank the authors of this important work, which narrates historical facts about the trajectory of Angolan sport. It is necessary to encourage other people to portray their experiences and important facts about our sport, for its dissemination and knowledge among young people\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

For the holder of the position, the Sports Gallery, where the book will be deposited, has the function of receiving material values \u200b\u200bof great historical importance, in which young people should gain contact and knowledge, to be used in their initiation to the practice of sports.<\/p>\n

In turn, Sack Santos, in the absence of his co-author, Lito Branda\u0303o, resident in England, gave a brief explanation about the stages of preparing the book, from the idea, data collection and sporting history of different personalities and sporting disciplines, which starts from the period from 1930 to the contemporary phase.<\/p>\n

Still from the book, whose launch took place at the beginning of the year, with 392 pages, in its bibliographic collection, 196 emblematic figures of national sport from 13 disciplines were honored.<\/p>\n

In the first phase, 500 copies were made available to the public, at a price of 15 thousand kwanzas. The achievements achieved over more than 30 years, in different modalities, are portrayed in the work.<\/p>\n

Among those honored, highlights include the Minister of Youth and Sports, Palmira Barbosa, and Paulo Bunze (handball), Demo\u0301stenes de Almeida \u201cCliton\u201d (athletics), Joaquim Dinis “Brinca N \u0301areia\u201d (football), Dama\u0301sio Ju\u0301nior “Kaissara\u201d (hockey), Lui\u0301s Fortunato (boxing), Jean Jacques, Gustavo and Guimara\u0303es (basketball) and Na\u0301dia Cruz (swimming).<\/p>\n

On the occasion, still in the Galeria do Complexo da Cidadela, the late journalist Anto\u0301nio Muaxilela was also honored, in which a sports dress, with signatures from several personalities, was also handed over to minister Palmira Barbosa.<\/p>\n

With the presence of the Secretary of State for Sports, Teresa Ulundo, family members, former colleagues from Ra\u0301dio Nacional de Angola (RNA) and other figures, despite the consternation, they highlighted the professional and human qualities of the deceased, who made an important contribution to the development of sport.<\/p>\n

In addition to the minister, the journalist Ana Cristina, his wife, Teresa Muaxilela, his brother, Mota Lemos, and his daughter, Ame\u0301lia Muaxilela, took the floor, who converged in recognizing the achievements of the deceased, the 12th, would have turned 61 years old.<\/p>\n
