Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The ambassador of Zambia accredited to Angola, Lawrence Chalungumana, highlighted the importance of highlighting the legacy of Agostinho Neto, as an example to new generations of Angolans.<\/b><\/p>\n

The diplomat made these considerations this Wednesday, in Moc\u0327a\u0302medes, in a meeting that brought together 19 members of African diplomatic missions accredited in Angola, with the governor of Namibe, Archer Mangueira, and his portfolio.<\/p>\n

At this meeting, the diplomat considered Agostinho Neto as a figure who should not be forgotten for his works and work, which is visible and which has been benefiting Angolans, such as development in different sectors, with emphasis on agriculture and industry.<\/p>\n

The diplomat also characterized the figure of Agostinho Neto as an African leader who always thought about the well-being of his people and the continent itself, having stood out in achieving national independence in 1975 and the unity of his country.<\/p>\n

He also highlighted that Agostinho Neto, during his lifetime, visited several countries where he met with some African leaders such as Kannethe Kaunda (Zambia), Ami\u0301lcar Cabral (Guinea-Bissau) and others who very early on were already addressing issues related to the development of African countries. many of them are now independent.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are here to continue the work of former African presidents, promoting their development,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Lawrence Chalungumana also highlighted that, in Namibe, the delegation of African diplomats will discuss aspects linked to the areas of industry, agriculture, commerce and civil construction with the government and the business class.<\/p>\n

In his approach with members of the government, the diplomat lamented the fact that many news circulated on social media address negative aspects of African countries, “and it is along these lines that the ambassadors decided to pay a visit and see the reality”.<\/p>\n

When speaking at this meeting, the governor of Namibe, Archer Mangueira, highlighted that the visit will strengthen ties of economic interest, an opportunity for possible commercial exchanges and to acquire other experiences in various areas of economic and social life.<\/p>\n

Archer Mangueira discussed the life and work of Agostinho Neto, reminding diplomats that the First President of Angola died on September 10, 1979 and was buried on the 17th of the same month, considering him as the leader of the Angolan nation due to the fact of this being the man who proclaimed independence on November 11, 1975.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe best way to honor the figure of Agostinho Neto is, in fact, to strengthen relations with other now independent African countries so that they are all economically independent\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

For four days, the delegation of diplomats will visit various potentialities in the province of Namibe, linked to the sectors of agriculture, industry, commerce, tourism and culture.<\/p>\n

Before this meeting, diplomats from the countries of South Africa, Algeria, Cape Verde, Eritrea, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritania, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Zimbabwe and Zambia visited a photographic exhibition that portrays the life and work of Agostinho Neto.<\/p>\n
