Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Sonangol signed an agreement with the German companies Conjucta GmbH and Gauff GmbH & Co. Engineering Kg for the implementation of a green hydrogen production plant in Angola.<\/b><\/p>\n

A statement released by the company on Wednesday indicates that work is already underway involving the Research and Development Center, focusing on conceptual and engineering studies to “identify the location for the installation of the factory”.<\/p>\n

Sonangol refers to green hydrogen as one of the cleanest energy sources and that production at the future factory takes place via water electrolysis, and must be ensured by renewable energy sources.<\/p>\n

“Due to its geographic characteristics, hypsometric and abundance of water resources, Angola stands out as a country with high potential in renewable energy sources”, reads the note.<\/p>\n

The construction of the plant to produce the compound and its derivatives, in Angola, for domestic consumption and export, is part of the company’s energy transition strategy, in the search for renewable energy resources.<\/p>\n

This new operation joins others established by Sonangol in the field of energy transition, with which the company plans to transform itself into a National Energy Company.<\/p>\n

Among these projects is a partnership with the Italian company ENI, which is building a 50 MW photovoltaic plant in Caraculo, Namibe, and another with the French company TotalEren and Greentech Angola, to complete the Quilemba Photovoltaic Solar Plant, in Lubango, with capacity to generate 35 MWp.<\/p>\n
