Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Secretary of State for Social Communication, Nuno Caldas Albino, defended Thursday, in Malanje, the need for media bodies to position themselves as agents for mobilizing participatory citizenship and proximity governance.<\/b><\/p>\n

The official, who was speaking at the reopening of the Angolan Public Television Production Center (TPA) in Malanje, also highlighted the importance of social communication assuming itself as a catalyst for the economic, social, political and cultural development of Angola.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the Angolan Executive’s priorities are the implementation of the constitutionally enshrined right to information, with the aim of guaranteeing citizens access to plural, rigorous and impartial information, through various means of Social Communication, including digital ones.<\/p>\n

He said that the reform and adaptation of the Social Communication legislative package, the program of valorization and dignification of staff and the technical and technological modernization of bodies are underway, as essential prerequisites for the affirmation of citizenship and the consolidation of a more inclusive and participatory society .<\/p>\n

Nuno Caldas Albino pointed out that, since 2022, we have seen a new governance stance, based on an approach of proximity and inclusion for participatory citizenship, which has ensured a more plural, responsible public Social Communication with professionals who seek to respect the law, deontology and ethics required to exercise the profession.<\/p>\n

However, he acknowledged that there is a long way to go, taking into account some incidents that exceed the limits set out in Social Communication legislation.<\/p>\n

According to Nuno Caldas Albino, citizens are increasingly demanding, so bodies cannot be indifferent to this reality, guaranteeing the constitutional implementation of the duty to inform and train citizens, in a democracy that is strengthened by the most active institutions.<\/p>\n

The official recalled that the role played by social communication is unavoidable and irreplaceable, in the process of mediation between the governed and the governing, and in the consolidation of tolerance and political cohesion.<\/p>\n

Nuno Caldas Albino said that the requalification of the TPA\/Malanje Production Center represents a gain, as it contributes to the production of diversified content about the reality of the province.<\/p>\n

He highlighted the support that the Provincial Government of Malanje has provided for local Social Communication to assume its role as mediator and promoter of human education and training.<\/p>\n

The re-inauguration of the TPA\/Malanje Production Center was attended by judicial magistrates and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, members of the government, heads of public media bodies in Malanje, provincial directors of the TPA from all provinces of the country, former local directors, among others.<\/p>\n
