Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Group of 77+China Summit, taking place until Saturday, 16th, in the Cuban capital, begins this Friday with a focus on combating poverty in developing countries.<\/b><\/p>\n

The event is attended by more than 100 delegations of heads of state and government from the group’s countries.<\/p>\n

According to the program the Angolan President, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, will be the third statesman to speak in the general debate at the summit.<\/p>\n

The first speaker of the general debate will be the President of the Union of Comoros, Azali Assoumani, followed by the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, a southern Caribbean nation made up of a main island (St. Vincent) and a chain of smaller islands.<\/p>\n

The summit debate’s theme is “Current Development Challenges: Role of Science, Technology and Innovation”, with work sessions spread over two days.<\/p>\n

According to the program, after the official opening of the meeting, in a session to be led by the Cuban President, Miguel Di\u0301az-Canel, the intervention of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Anto\u0301nio Guterres, is also scheduled, which will be followed by the general debate.<\/p>\n

In the general debate, the Heads of State and Government will have the opportunity to express their ideas and points of view around the chosen topic and other considerations about the current reality of the world.<\/p>\n

Speakers for the first day of the general debate will also be the secretary of China’s central inspection and discipline commission, Li Xi, the presidents of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe, of Venezuela, Nicola\u0301s Maduro, and from Botswana, Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi.<\/p>\n

The list also includes interventions by the heads of state of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyussi, of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, Argentina, Alberto Ferna\u0301ndez, Central African Republic, Faustin Touadera, of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, Burundi, E\u0301variste Ndayishimiye, and the vice -President of Namibia, Nangolo Mbumba, among other representatives.<\/p>\n

As the general debate continues, Saturday, the Head of State of Brazil, Lula da Silva, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Congo, Jean-Claude Gakosso, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Zimbabwe, Frederick Shava, and representatives of international organizations will speak. .<\/p>\n

Cuba chairs, for the first time, the G77 group that brings together developing countries and 134 member countries of the United Nations (UN).<\/p>\n

The G-77+China was created on June 15, 1964 by 77 developing countries and is the largest and most diverse group in the multilateral arena, with 134 Member States, including Angola, representing two thirds of the members of the Nations system. United States and 80 percent of the world’s population.<\/p>\n

The group’s purpose is to promote the collective economic interests of its members and improve their capacity for multilateral negotiation within the United Nations System.<\/p>\n
