Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, defended this Friday, in Havana (Cuba), the need for access by the countries of Group 77+China to long-term financing under favorable repayment conditions, to that can invest in the main infrastructures, with a view to their development.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Angolan statesman was speaking at the G77+China Summit, which began in the Cuban capital, and highlighted the road and railway networks, the production and distribution of water and energy, basic sanitation, as well as information and communications networks, so that these countries can carry out , someday, the dream of also becoming industrialized.<\/p>\n

According to Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, unity and solidarity between the 77+China group on issues of common interest in international debates and forums are essential to advance the legitimate development aspirations of their peoples and countries.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that the group will continue to fight for profound reforms in the international financial architecture and its governance, through fair representation in the main global decision-making and policy-making bodies.<\/p>\n

These reforms, he said, can significantly contribute to improving the access of developing countries to sources of secure and predictable financing necessary for the urgent investment in science, technology and innovation, including communication and information technologies that appear to be fundamental instruments.<\/p>\n

This, he highlighted, \u201cto face global challenges and help boost and accelerate the pace of economic diversification and transformation, increase productivity and competitiveness, in order to achieve the objectives outlined in the 2020\/2030 agenda\u201d.<\/p>\n

President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o reinforced that these nations will know how to \u201cfind the solutions and strategies that will lead us to achieving our development agenda\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Group of 77+China Summit runs until Saturday, in the Cuban capital (Havana), and focuses on combating poverty in developing countries.<\/p>\n

The event is attended by more than 100 delegations of heads of State and Government from the group’s countries and has the theme “Current Development Challenges: Role of Science, Technology and Innovation”, with work sessions spread over two days.<\/p>\n

Cuba presides, for the first time, of the G77 group that brings together developing countries and 134 members of the United Nations (UN).<\/p>\n
