Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola has established investment in science, technology and innovation as one of its priorities, as a strategy to face the challenges of diversification and economic growth, said this Friday in Havana, the head of state, Joa\u0303o Lorenzo.<\/b><\/p>\n

The statesman, who was speaking at the general debate of the Group of 77+China Summit, stated that the country has also established, as a priority, the increase in productivity, global competitiveness and digital and energy transitions, within the scope of policies and programs aimed at to improve the quality of life of Angolans.<\/p>\n

From this perspective, he made it known that the science, information and communication technologies sector is in a process of growth and expansion.<\/p>\n

As an example, he highlighted the construction and placement, by the Russian Federation, of the Angosat-2 communications satellite into orbit.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are expanding the national broadband and digital terrestrial television network and are part of the 2-Africa international fiber optic submarine cable consortium,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

In these initiatives of great strategic scope, he continued, the Angolan Executive promoted access and participation of young people, especially girls, in education, training, science and technology.<\/p>\n

She added that this trend is related not only to the relevance of its contribution to the national scientific community, but also to the commitment to gender equality and empowerment.<\/p>\n

He argued that it is essential to emphasize the active and active role of the G-77+China in creating a balanced view of contemporary political facts that generate tension, such as the conflict in Eastern Europe.<\/p>\n

He said that in relation to this case, the members of the G-77+ China cannot be indifferent, as the need to respect the Charter of the United Nations and the norms of International Law has become imperative.<\/p>\n

Conflicts in Africa<\/p>\n

In this regard, President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o lamented the fact that the African continent is witnessing, with great concern, the spread of terrorism and the resurgence of coups d’e\u0301tat perpetrated by military personnel, with the condemnation of the African Union (AU) and the international community. in general.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important that this same international community does not give ambiguous signals regarding the seizure of power by unconstitutional means, and must refrain from attitudes and behaviors that discredit regional and continental organizations and that could be interpreted as encouraging coup plotters\u201d, defended Joa\u0303o Lorenzo.<\/p>\n

He noted that the challenges and progress achieved since the adoption of the “Algiers Charter”, an important document that outlined the vision of the Group of 77, continues to defend the interests of developing countries.<\/p>\n

He expressed the hope that the coalition will be able, at its level, to remain actively committed to the aspirations of creating the organization, working within the principles of unity, complementarity, cooperation and solidarity.<\/p>\n

Embargo against Cuba<\/p>\n

In this regard, he appealed to the member countries, gathered in Havana, with one voice, to defend the need for an immediate end to the embargo against Cuba.<\/p>\n

Accordingly, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o considered the embargo against the Cuban people to be unfair, inhumane, contrary to the principles of international trade and cooperation, the inalienable right of self-determination and free choice.<\/p>\n

Cuba chairs, for the first time, the G77+China group that brings together developing countries and 134 member countries of the United Nations (UN).<\/p>\n

The G-77+China was created on June 15, 1964 by 77 developing countries and is the largest and most diverse group in the multilateral arena, with 134 Member States, including Angola, representing two thirds of the members of the United Nations system. United States and 80 percent of the world’s population.<\/p>\n

The group’s purpose is to promote the collective economic interests of its members and improve their capacity for multilateral negotiation within the United Nations System.<\/p>\n
