Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The participation of the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, in the G77+China Summit, in Havana, the Cuban capital, was one of the highlights of the political news of the week ending saturday.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the event, witnessed by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Anto\u0301nio Guterres, the Angolan statesman defended the access of Group 77+China countries to long-term financing under favorable repayment conditions, so that they can invest in the main infrastructures , with a view to its development.<\/p>\n

He highlighted the road and railway networks, the production and distribution of water and energy, basic sanitation and information and communications networks so that these countries can one day realize their dream of also becoming industrialized.<\/p>\n

He emphasized, in this regard, that Angola has established investment in science, technology and innovation as one of its priorities, as a strategy to face the challenges of diversification and economic growth.<\/p>\n

On the sidelines of the Summit, which has as its motto “Science, Technology and Innovation”, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, in addition to the private meeting with the host President, Miguel Di\u0301az-Canel, met with his counterparts from Rwanda and Venezuela, Paul Kagame and Nicolas Maduro, respectively.<\/p>\n

Before heading to the G77+China Summit, the Angolan Head of State visited the Barra do Dande Ocean Terminal (TOBD), in the province of Bengo, and the construction works of the General de Viana and Queimados hospitals in Kilamba, in Luanda.<\/p>\n

The works on the Barra do Dande Ocean Terminal, valued at US$642 million, are scheduled to be completed in July 2024.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o highlighted, on the occasion, the strategic importance of the Barra do Dande Ocean Terminal (TOBD) and the refineries under construction in the country, which will contribute to the export of petroleum derivatives.<\/p>\n

He said that the infrastructure was created not only to ensure that there is no shortage of refined products for consumption in the country, but also for the country to have a greater supply of refined products for export.<\/p>\n

The Holder of the Executive Power demanded, as part of his field visit, speed in the execution of the work on the General Hospital of Viana, which is expected to be completed in December of this year.<\/p>\n

In this regard, he stated that he expected to find the infrastructure in a more advanced state of execution and drew the contractor’s attention to the need to meet the deadlines defined in the contract.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o ensured the continuity of the Executive’s investment in the health sector, with a view to expanding the country’s health network.<\/p>\n

In the last seven days, the President expressed, through a message sent to King Mohamed VI, solidarity with the Moroccan people, due to the earthquake that caused more than three thousand deaths, thousands of injuries and enormous devastation.<\/p>\n

Likewise, he expressed solidarity with the people of Libya, due to the deaths of more than 2,300 people and around seven thousand injured, as a result of Storm Daniel, which caused flooding.<\/p>\n

During the week, the president of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, reopened the building of the Provincial Parliamentary Support Office for the Cabinda Circle.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Minister of Territorial Administration, Dioni\u0301sio da Fonseca, assessed, in the municipality of Mavinga, Cuando Cubango, the level of implementation of infrastructures within the framework of the Implementation of the Political and Administrative Division (DPA).<\/p>\n

On the occasion, he said that the municipality of Mavinga is being designed to be the capital of the future province of Cuando, within the scope of the new Political-Administrative Division, and expressed the need to carry out technical work to assess the objective conditions of the region.<\/p>\n

In another quarter, the vice-president of the MPLA, Lui\u0301sa Damia\u0303o, appealed, in the municipality of Lucapa, Lunda Norte province, to defense and security bodies to reinforce the fight against illegal immigration, as it represents a danger to the economy and national sovereignty.<\/p>\n

The leader pointed out that Angola is open to the world and especially to foreigners who enter legally with the aim of developing businesses that help develop the country’s economy.<\/p>\n

The distinction of the Embassy of Angola in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with the “Excellence” award, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that Persian Gulf country, also stood out from the political facts of the week in question.<\/p>\n
