Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Secretary of State for Justice, Evaristo Solano, reaffirmed this Saturday, in Luanda, the commitment of the Angolan Government to work towards granting an Identity Card to more than 13 million people, in the absence of this document.<\/b><\/p>\n

When speaking at the first \u201cIdentity Day Colloquium\u201d, the person responsible said that the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights continues to develop relations with similar institutions, with a view to massification and awareness of the importance of BI, with emphasis on the Promotion Movement for Identity in Africa (ID4Africa).<\/p>\n

According to Evaristo Solano, the regulatory body has also been working to simplify procedures and improve service to users.<\/p>\n

He mentioned that the lack of ID for the more than 13 million registered Angolans makes it difficult for them to prove their nationality in their own country.<\/p>\n

The digital era, he continued, opted for symbol 16.9 of the United Nations Agenda, with the purpose of guaranteeing legal identity for all people.<\/p>\n

According to the person responsible, this year three elements of identity stand out, namely inclusion, protection and utility, which are aligned with the improvement of the identification and civil registration ecosystem on a national and international scale.<\/p>\n

For his part, the national director of Identification of Records and Notaries, Aristides Marques, highlighted that the objective of the Angolan authorities is to work to reach at least 90 percent of the population without identification.<\/p>\n

He recognized that there was still a lack of better technical and logistical conditions for faster and more comfortable service to users.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbout a year ago, we started implementing a registration system that interacts with the issuance of the ID card, but this service is not yet installed in all parts of the country, a fact that could be implemented by next year\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Promoted by the National Directorate of Identification, Records and Notaries, the first Identity Day Colloquium was attended by provincial delegates, directors, heads of civil and criminal identification departments, as well as conservators.<\/p>\n

During the event, held at Memorial Dr. Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto, participants reflected on the themes \u201cThe usefulness of the Identity Card\u201d, \u201cSocial inclusion with the Identity Card\u201d and \u201cData protection of the Identity Card\u201d .<\/p>\n

The colloquium also served to honor the award of the first National Citizen Identity Card to the First President of Angola, Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto.<\/p>\n
