Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Informal Economy Reconversion Program (PREI), ongoing in the country since 2018, formalized, in the first phase, more than 250 thousand informal workers, reported this Tuesday, in Luanda, the minister of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security, Teresa Rodrigues Dias.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the opening of the 1st International Forum for the Reconversion of the Informal Economy, the minister said that the Executive remains committed to continuing the aforementioned process, which, in addition to regularizing operators, also created more than nine thousand new jobs.<\/p>\n

Faced with the challenge, he continued, informal workers continue to be encouraged to join the Program, approaching municipal administrations, the General Tax Administration (AGT), the National Social Security Institute (INSS) and the Guiche\u0301 U\u0301nico de Empresas (GUE ).<\/p>\n

According to the minister, by regularizing themselves, these citizens will be able to save for their social protection in the future, when out of active service, and have some income for themselves and their family.<\/p>\n

To safeguard the dignity that the Government intends for these operators, the minister calls on those involved to pay micro-credits to banking institutions and social security expenses, so that they have income when they can no longer work.<\/p>\n

Tereza Rodrigues Dias highlighted that the PREI is a concern of the Executive, which created an inter-ministerial commission to deal with this process, which has as its most worrying areas agriculture, fisheries and domestic services, sectors where more work must be done to promote inclusion of these citizens.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the minister reaffirmed that the Government will work harder to improve many complementary services to the Informal Economy Requalification Program, with the expansion of the \u201cSimplifica\u201d projects, Kwenda, Economy Diversification and Import Substitution Program (PRODESI).<\/p>\n

Regarding the conditions, the governor also referred to the improvement of roads, to transport products from the countryside to the city and, thus, obtain more financial resources.<\/p>\n

“In this new paradigm, as we progress, we become aware of the critical points, which we improve, such as the cases of those enrolled who do not contribute to the National Institute of Social Security (INSS), the correct targeting of credits, among other aspects “, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

The minister thanked the national and foreign experts who debate the subject and exchange experiences, given that in 2015, the International Labor Organization (ILO) considered \u201cthere is a global need to convert informal economies into formal ones, so that there are more resources in the coffers of the Government with funds from tax revenues.<\/p>\n

The event, which takes place under the motto \u201cReconversion of the informal economy \u2013 a vector for growth and fiscal sustainability in Angola\u201d, has the participation of government officials, representatives of provincial governments, businesspeople, associations, United Nations organizations and foreign experts.<\/p>\n

In it, \u201cThe challenges of the transition from the informal economy\u201d, \u201cEconomic sustainability in developed countries\u201d, \u201cGood practices on an approach to transition from the formal to the informal economy \u2013 international experience\u201d are being debated.<\/p>\n

On this first day, the “New paradigm of the transition from the informal to the formal economy”, “The role of communication and awareness in the formalization process” and “financial inclusion in economic formalization” are also being addressed.<\/p>\n

The 1st International Forum for the Reconversion of the Informal to Formal Economy, ends on Wednesday, with trips to the markets of Sa\u0303o Paulo (Sambizanga), to observe the PREI results on site, and to Catintom (Maianga), where the facilities of the Integrated Service for the Reconversion of the Informal Economy (SIREI).<\/p>\n
