Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The director of the Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports office in the province of Huambo, Jeremias Chissanga, reaffirmed this Thursday the sector’s commitment to the massification of volleyball, through investment in training.<\/b><\/p>\n

The official, who was speaking at the opening of the 37th edition of the men’s and women’s senior indoor volleyball nationals, taking place in the Osvaldo Serra Van-Du\u0301nem multipurpose pavilion, said that the massification of this sport aims to make the province one of the country’s references.<\/p>\n

He said that the sector therefore intends to establish a strong partnership with the various sporting actors, so that, through school sport, the desired results can be achieved.<\/p>\n

Jeremias Chissanga made it known that the current reality of indoor volleyball in the province of Huambo is inverted as there are only senior levels and no training levels, a situation that is worrying, due to the lack of the basis to sustain the sport in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor this reason, we will need to work hard at the training levels and reverse the current situation of the sport, for its massification and, at the same time, guarantee the basis for the future\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

Historical data indicates that Huambo was a reference for volleyball only in school sports.<\/p>\n

In terms of federated sport, in the past there was Petro do Huambo, with which it debuted in the men’s and women’s senior nationals in 2010, when it hosted both competitions for the first time.<\/p>\n

The practice of the sport, in the region, has been resurfacing in the last two years, at senior levels, through the ADS and Grupo Desportivo 4 de Junho teams, after registering a stoppage in 2020 and early 2021, due to covid-19, which had a negative impact on room types.<\/p>\n

The 37th edition of the senior women’s volleyball national championship, which saw the withdrawal of the team from the Instituto Superior Polite\u0301cnico de Tecnologias e Cie\u0302ncias (ISPTEC), champion in title, features the participation of Blue Vo\u0301lei Clube de Luanda (runner-up), Scorpions of Boa Fi\u0301 de Viana, Pura Sport de Luanda, Sporting de Benguela, GD 4 de Junho do Huambo and Nu\u0301cleo de Voleibol do Cuanza Sul.<\/p>\n

For men, the event has the participation of 12 teams, divided into two groups (A and B) with six each.<\/p>\n

A group:<\/p>\n

Scorpios of Good Faith of Viana (champion), ADS Volleyball Center of Huambo, Estrela Pala\u0301cio da Hui\u0301la, Grupo Desportivo Mente Activa, Sporting do Bie\u0301 and Grupo Desportivo do Impe\u0301rio.<\/p>\n

Group B:<\/p>\n

Desportivo 4 de Junho, Blue de Volei Clube (runner-up), Nu\u0301cleo de Voleibol do Cuanza Sul, Pura Sport, Interclube do Namibe and Sporting de Benguela.<\/p>\n

In the inaugural men’s round, for series A, the Scorpions of Boa Fe\u0301 de Viana defeated Nu\u0301cleo de Voleibol ADS do Huambo, by 3 sevens-0, while Estrelas do Pala\u0301cio da Hui\u0301la beat Sporting do Bie\u0301, by 4 sevens -1.<\/p>\n

In series B: Blue Vo\u0301lei Clube beat GD 4 de Junho, by 3 sevens-0, and at the end of the day they played Nu\u0301cleo de Voleibol do Cuanza Sul-Interclube do Namibe.<\/p>\n

Friday, to conclude the previous round, they will play for group A: Grupo Desportivo Mente Activa-Grupo Desportivo do Impe\u0301rio, and for group B: Pura Sport de Luanda-Sporting de Benguela.<\/p>\n

For women, the first round, which runs until tonight, has the following line-up: Sporting de Benguela-Blue Vo\u0301lei Clube, Grupo Desportivo 4 de Junho-Pura Sport and Esporpo\u0303es de Boa Fe\u0301 de Viana-Nu\u0301cleo de Voleibol do Cuanza Sul.<\/p>\n

The two championships, whose games will take place until the 20th, at the Pavilha\u0303o Osvaldo Serra Van-Du\u0301nem, in the interior of the city of Huambo, will be played in the system of all against all in one round, in the group stage, followed by the quarters finals for men, semi-finals for both classes, classifications and finals.<\/p>\n

After debuting at the national level in 2010, the province of Huambo participated again last year, in competitions held in Benguela, through the ADS Volleyball Center, in men’s and women’s competitions.<\/p>\n
