Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>International Master (MI) Amorim Agnelo won, this Friday, the absolute National Chess Championship for the fourth time (four-time champion), with victory in the last round over Erikson Soares, Academia Tubaro\u0303eszinho.<\/b><\/p>\n

The 1.o de Agosto athlete has 7.5 points in the lead in the event held at the National Technical Training School of the Social Service of Angola (ENFOTSS), in Cacuaco, seconded by Josemar Cabingano, from Nu\u0301cleo Giga, with seven points.<\/p>\n

Third place went to Mestre Fide (MF) Se\u0301rgio Miguel (SOS Crianc\u0327as Benguela), also with seven points, but at a disadvantage in terms of results compared to second overall.<\/p>\n

Amorim Agnelo won a national race for the first time in 1997, following victories in 2002 and 2010.<\/p>\n

The player from the \u201cmilitary\u201d club won a gold medal at the Pan-African Games, held in 2011, in the Mozambican city of Maputo. Previously, in 1996, he was runner-up in the African junior championship, an event also held in Mozambique.<\/p>\n

Currently with a playing strength (elo) of 2183 pts, Agnelo has six participations in the Olympics, the last of which was in 2018, held in Norway.<\/p>\n

For women, the event was won by Ednazia Ju\u0301nior, from Escola Macovi, who totaled 7.5 pts, followed by Gemima Paulo, Escola Ditrovi, with 7 pts, and Esperanc\u0327a Caxita (1st of August) also with seven points, but at a disadvantage in the game against each other.<\/p>\n

With a playing strength of 1840, the 21-year-old chess player thus won her second absolute national title, after having done so in 2021, a competition played in the province of Hui\u0301la.<\/p>\n

Previously, at the junior level, Ednasia also became two-time champion. The first achievement was in 2014, in Benguela, and the second, in 2022, in the province of Luanda.<\/p>\n

The player has collected two African trophies, in 2017, in Zimbabwe, and in 2019, in Namibia, the latter at junior level. In 2022, she became African junior champion in Algeria.<\/p>\n

The sportswoman from the science game has participated in two Olympics, in 2018, in Georgia, and in 2022, in India.<\/p>\n
