Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Construction work on the national road 290, which connects the municipalities of Moc\u0327a\u0302medes and Virei, on a 134-kilometre route, will resume in 2024, the Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing announced Friday, in the province of Namibe. , Carlos Alberto dos Santos.<\/b><\/p>\n

The government official made the announcement during a meeting with members of the administration of the municipality of Virei aimed at reassessing the technical status of this project, which has been paralyzed since 2014.<\/p>\n

The minister guaranteed that the project is one of the priorities of the General State Budget for 2024 and will last 24 months, to provide comfort to motorists and residents, especially economic operators linked to the branches of geology and mineral resources, agriculture and livestock farming. .<\/p>\n

Speaking on this matter, the administrator of Virei, Andre\u0301 Cassinda, stated that this project will contribute to developing the economy of the province of Namibe, by contributing to improving the flow process of various products without using the Serra da Leba route .<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are hopeful about this work that will give a big boost to our economy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The project, which is in charge of the company CARMON, includes two 3.5 meter wide lanes, a 100 meter shoulder on each side, a 22 cm recycled sub-base, a 5 cm thick wearing layer, among others. elements.<\/p>\n

In this project, 108 kilometers of road will be repaired.<\/p>\n

The municipality of Virei has 44 thousand inhabitants, two communes and 64 localities. It has an area of \u200b\u200b15 thousand 92 square kilometers.<\/p>\n

After visiting the municipality of Virei, the minister went to the commune of Lucira to check the progress of work on the road that connects the provinces of Namibe and Benguela, scheduled for completion in 2025.<\/p>\n

Of the 105 kilometers of road planned, 45 kilometers have been completed so far.<\/p>\n

The person responsible for the project, Idrise Hibraim, said that 45 kilometers have already been paved, with 65 remaining.<\/p>\n
