Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The inspector general of National Defense, Gouveia de Sa\u0301 Miranda, defended this Monday, in Luanda, the preparation of military forces, through permanent exercises, as one of the main contributions to strengthening and consolidating the unity of countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).<\/b><\/p>\n

The general, who was speaking during the opening ceremony of the joint military exercise of the community’s countries, called \u201cNguizani-Logex”, said that the event aims to improve the troops’ logistical methods, as well as motivate the pride and satisfaction of the members of the regional organization .<\/p>\n

He added that the systematic carrying out of exercises of this kind is already a practice with positive signs in conflict scenarios, adding that the operationalization of forces in a state of SADC alert, an intervention mechanism in crisis situations, continues to be a permanent concern of the community .<\/p>\n

For his part, the Chief of Staff for Planning of SADC Standby Forces, Raymond Ndwandwe, recognized that exercises like this ensure the ability to plan, prepare, deploy and sustain forces during operations.<\/p>\n

He said that the SADC command structure has made great efforts in planning, development, preparation and exercise to ensure that it meets the needs of the organization. The Armed Forces of Angola (FAA) have made great efforts to meet the training needs in the southern region.<\/p>\n

The Central Exercise of the Armed Forces in a State of Alert for the Southern African Development Community (SADC) \u201cNguizani-Logex\u201d, for 12 days, at the War College, will prepare troops in a state of alert to face reflexes of subversion to terrorism.<\/p>\n

The Southern African Development Community is made up of 16 member states, namely Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, eSwatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe<\/p>\n

The organization was founded on August 17, 1992. Based in Gaberone, Botswana, its emergence resulted from a long process of consultation with leaders in the region.<\/p>\n

The president of the Republic of Angola, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, assumed, last August, in Luanda, the rotating presidency of SADC.<\/p>\n
