Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Fifteen students from the Instituto Industrial Polite\u0301cnico de Benguela (IPIB) received their certificates from the \u201cCisco Certified Network Associeted\u201d this Friday, in that city, enabling them to access the job market.<\/b><\/p>\n

CCNA is an information technology certification from Cisco Systems.<\/p>\n

According to the senior manager of Corporate Social Responsibility at mobile phone operator Unitel, Ceci\u0301lia Fernandes, the aforementioned students attended online training, promoted by their company, in partnership with the Ministry of Education.<\/p>\n

With three modules, over seventy hours, candidates learned to install, configure, operate and troubleshoot networks, including implementing and verifying connections at sites or remote units connected via the network.<\/p>\n

Ceci\u0301lia Fernandes stated that, in secondary education, where the Cisco Network Academy certification is included, training was provided for students and teachers with the aim of providing these professionals with specific skills, so that they can enter the job market through entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese students can compete for higher education scholarships, promoted by Unitel, as long as they meet the requirements, depending on the result they can achieve\u201d, he stated.<\/p>\n

According to her, students have access to a six-month paid internship and if they perform positively, they can also obtain a work contract.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe currently have five students who have access to scholarships and who already work at Unitel\u201d, revealed the manager.<\/p>\n

He also said that the company’s strategy is to educate society. “Even if they don’t join Unitel, they have the skills required to enter the job market”, she emphasized.<\/p>\n

After receiving his certificate, young Lui\u0301s Francisco said that he aspires to work in the assembly and implementation of computer networks, both on a small and large scale.<\/p>\n

Larice Damia\u0303o promised innovation and assured that companies such as Unitel, TV Cabo or Angola Telecom can count on their services in the \u201cNetwork\u201d sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cI encountered some difficulties during training, but they weren\u2019t enough to make me give up\u201d, she said with satisfaction.<\/p>\n

The vice-governor of Benguela for the Political, Social and Economic area, Li\u0301dia Amaro, congratulated Unitel’s initiative, which will allow the creation of more jobs, especially in self-employment.<\/p>\n

He called on other companies to follow the same path, not only in terms of training but also in other complementary areas.<\/p>\n

Asked about access to public work, she said that there is possibility in various areas, not only through competitions, but also through promotion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is what the Government has been doing, motivating several young people to promote self-employment. Many young people benefit from kits within the framework of various existing programs, such as the fight against poverty\u201d, she explained.<\/p>\n

In turn, the Secretary of State for Secondary Education, Gildo Matias, stated that his Ministry is working towards what is its most important ambition, that of qualifying Angolans who will support the country’s development strategy.<\/p>\n

\u201cOther initiatives will take place and the next one will be with students from the Namibe Polytechnic Institute, where fifteen young people will also be trained\u201d, announced the Secretary of State.<\/p>\n

Gildo Matias considered that this training will place students in a more competitive position, not only for the job market, but also for initiatives related to entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n

Unitel started with these trainings in 2019, in Luanda, at the time with resources to carry out in-person training, but the restrictions imposed by Covid-19, prompted the company to opt for the digital format, making it easier to extend it to the rest of the country, according to company information.<\/p>\n
