Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Students from the Dr. Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto School Complex, in the province of Cuanza Sul, Mariquinha Fortuna, won first place in the National Essay Competition for Secondary Schools of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) 2023 edition.<\/b><\/p>\n

For this edition, the topic under discussion was “How SADC can promote industrialization for inclusive, resilient and sustainable economic growth”.<\/p>\n

The information was provided this Friday, in Luanda, by the representative of the SADC national board, Jorge Joa\u0303o de Oliveira, who presented the winner with the value of USD500, teaching materials and a smartphone.<\/p>\n

At the awards ceremony, chaired by the Secretary of State for Pre-School and General Education, Pacheco Francisco, the second and third classifieds were also distinguished, specifically students Carlos Joaquim and Janeth Gabriel, who received prizes of 300 and 200 US dollars, teaching materials and smartphones respectively.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, Mariquinha Fortuna, 21 years old, having already finished 12th grade, in the Physical and Biological Sciences course, said she was thrilled with the award, as it is the result of a lot of commitment.<\/p>\n

She mentioned that, despite having enjoyed the awards, she wanted it to be a scholarship, as she wanted to enter a university to continue her studies, on the Nursing course.<\/p>\n

Carlos Joaquim, also from the province of Cuanza Sul, students in class 11, considered the experience motivating, with the work resulting from internet research and interviews with teachers at the institution.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that he participated motivated by his Portuguese language teacher, as he thought several times about giving up participating in it, having taken a week to write the essay.<\/p>\n

Already the winner Janeth Gabriel, from the province of Cunene, finalist in the Physical and Biological Sciences course, at Complexo Escolar Pita\u0301goras, revealed that it was rewarding to participate in the competition.<\/p>\n

Despite finishing third, he said he was happy, firstly, to have been part of this experience.<\/p>\n

She highlighted that it was difficult to obtain the prize, which is why she intends to give the amount received a worthy destination to feel satisfied.<\/p>\n

The winners were unanimous in highlighting that after returning to their provinces they will serve as spokespersons and encourage other people to participate in this competition.<\/p>\n

In this edition, 18 students from the provinces of Cuanza Sul, Cunene, Cabinda, Luanda, Malanje, Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul, Benguela and Zaire participated.<\/p>\n

Established in 1999, on an annual basis, this is a regional competition for students from schools in member countries, with the aim of providing them with new opportunities to deepen their knowledge.<\/p>\n
