Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Angolan ambassador to Guinea-Bissau, Ma\u0301rio Augusto, defended, this Monday, in the Guinean capital, the review and reestablishment of all agreements and protocols signed between the two countries until 2012, with a view to giving a new dynamic to bilateral cooperation.<\/b><\/p>\n

Leaving an audience with President Umaro Embalo\u0301, the Angolan diplomat said that relations had good moments until 2012, when a coup d’e\u0301tat took place in Guinea-Bissau, which removed the PAIGC government, and new authorities were installed that demanded the withdrawal of the Angolan military and security forces mission to maintain peace in Guinea-Bissau.<\/p>\n

“Angola’s mission in Guinea-Bissau (MISSIANG) was created under a protocol, signed between the two countries, with the aim of helping Guinea in the implementation of the Armed Forces and security Reform Program”, he said.<\/p>\n

He assured that from 2012 to the present date the situation of cooperation has been, “in a certain way suspended, because we need to re-establish the agreements and protocols, which need to be reviewed in order to be implemented again”.<\/p>\n

He said that after the two governments work on the issue of reviewing the cooperation protocol, it will be possible to begin implementing the same agreements and a more positive or firmer assessment will be possible.<\/p>\n

Luanda Biennial<\/p>\n

On the same occasion, Ma\u0301rio Augusto delivered a message from the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, to the Guinean Head of State, Umaro Embalo\u0301, formally inviting him to participate in the Luanda Biennial, Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace, to be held from 22 to 24 November 2023.<\/p>\n

The diplomat explained that the initiative is a platform with several African countries and other continents, to help them have a space for political and diplomatic consultation.<\/p>\n

For the Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace in Africa, also called the Luanda Biennial, to be held in the country (for the 3rd time), next November, the greatest possible benefit is expected from the themes to be addressed, among which Education is an important pillar for the development of humanity.<\/p>\n

Taking place under the motto \u201cEducation, Culture of Peace and African Citizenship as Tools for the Sustainable Development of the Continent\u201d, the three-day event (22 to 24\/November) is a joint organization of the Government of Angola, the African Union (AU) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).<\/p>\n

Regarding the presidency of Guinea-Bissau in the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) in 2025, Ma\u0301rio Augusto said that it is still too early to talk about the subject, given that the organization is still being led by Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe.<\/p>\n

“It is always welcome that Guinea-Bissau presented its candidacy and was unanimously approved at the level of the CPLP Heads of State and Government summit.<\/p>\n
