Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The status of traditional power in Angola, its rights and duties, has been discussed since today, Tuesday, by the country’s kings and chiefs, during the first extraordinary national assembly to review ANSTA.<\/b><\/p>\n

Scheduled to end on Thursday, the meeting, promoted by the National Association of Traditional Sovereignty of Angola (ANSTA) takes place at Ombala Yo Mbalundu, on the outskirts of the municipal town of Bailundo, 75 kilometers north of the city of Huambo, under the motto \u201cStrengthen the traditional sovereignty of Angola.<\/p>\n

The event aims to analyze the association’s activities over the last two years and prepare a guiding document on the rights and duties of the country’s traditional authorities, to be presented at the IV national culture meeting, scheduled for this year, in Luanda.<\/p>\n

Of the sovereigns present at the meeting, highlights include Bailundo, Tchongolola Tchongonga, from Huambo, Artur Moc\u0327o, from Tchiaka, Evaristo Pari\u0301s, from Lundas, Muatchissengue Watembo, from Cuando Cubango, Muene Menongue, from Porto Amboim, Ngana Lunga IX, from Lutchase, Costa Mweni Chivueka IV and from Kongo, Ntinu Ndoma Nkosi.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, the president of ANSTA, Miguel Matias Filipe, said that the meeting will define the association’s future work and methods for resolving day-to-day difficulties, with a view to allowing it to better consolidate itself in society.<\/p>\n

The great soba of Seles, Cuanza Sul, highlighted the good relations between traditional authorities and the Angolan Government, which has welcomed the suggestions and recommendations coming from ANSTA members, for the common well-being.<\/p>\n

In turn, the King of Bailundo, Tchongolola Tchongonga, made it known that the focus of the activity will be to define the status of traditional power in Angola and its asymmetries.<\/p>\n

He stated that the approval of this statute, with the greatest possible urgency, will confer greater dignity and value on traditional power.<\/p>\n

Representing the governor of the province of Huambo, Lotti Nolika, the administrator of the municipality of Bailundo, Irineu Ca\u0302ndido Sacaa\u0301la, recognized the contribution of traditional authorities in the communities, especially in matters linked to the preservation of Angolan tradition and culture.<\/p>\n

According to the official, traditional authorities exercise the functions of judge and priest in communities, mainly in resolving land conflicts, witchcraft and other matters, in partnership with the Angolan government.<\/p>\n

To this end, he asked for more unity with the Angolan Executive, which is committed to promoting inclusive and respectful policies, based on dialogue and the determination of the country’s communities.<\/p>\n

Before work began, the sovereigns visited the Halavala centrality, the local municipal administration, the technical-professional training center \u201cCidade Jovens de Sucesso\u201d and the photovoltaic plant works.<\/p>\n

ANSTA, founded on May 20, 2022, has as its main objective the union between traditional authorities, the rescue of Angolan culture, the preservation of tradition and the strengthening of its members’ partnership relations with the Angolan State.<\/p>\n
