Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Ministerial delegations from Angola and Rwanda assessed, on Monday, in Kigali, the state of bilateral cooperation, with emphasis on the decisions taken from the First Session of the Permanent Joint Commission.<\/b><\/p>\n

During the talks, the two countries agreed to see the decisions taken from that session implemented, essentially the holding of the second meeting scheduled for 2024 in Luanda.<\/p>\n

According to a press release, the talks were led by the ministers of Foreign Affairs, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio, on the Angolan side, and the Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Vicente Bitura<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the two leaders also reviewed the support that should be given by Rwanda in Angola’s accession to the Organization Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) and the Commonwealth, as well as to the country’s candidacy for the Presidency of the African Union (AU), in 2025, representing the Southern Region.<\/p>\n

Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio and Vincent Biruta also agreed to work hard towards holding Bilateral Consultations at the highest level, preceded by technical meetings between the two ministries.<\/p>\n

At the end, the two delegations made reference to the 2nd Angola\/Rwanda Business Forum, scheduled for next November, in Luanda, capital of Angola.<\/p>\n

The legal basis for bilateral cooperation between Angola and Rwanda was established on May 15, 2014, with the signing of the Framework Agreement for Economic, Technical-Scientific and Cultural Cooperation and the Agreement on the Creation of the Bilateral Commission.<\/p>\n

The two countries signed, on April 15, 2022, in Kigali, nine legal instruments, including Agreements to avoid double taxation, extradition, mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, transfer of convicted persons, Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Agriculture and Livestock Development.<\/p>\n

Also noteworthy are the Memorandums of Understanding on Local Administration, Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Cooperation in the field of Health, as well as between the National School of Administration and Public Policies and the Rwanda Management Institute.<\/p>\n
