Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Economy and Planning, Ma\u0301rio Caetano Joa\u0303o, stated this Wednesday, in Luanda, that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) transform the operationalization of businesses, offering market opportunities and improving competitiveness.<\/b><\/p>\n

The 17 SDGs, established by the United Nations in 2015, include the eradication of poverty, zero hunger, decent work and economic growth, as well as climate action.<\/p>\n

The government official, who closed the III Conference on Environment and Development, pointed out as gains in the practice of the Sustainable Development Goals the promotion of operational efficiency, risk management and facilitation of financing.<\/p>\n

For Ma\u0301rio Caetano Joa\u0303o, the SDGs have a significant impact on business in several ways, highlighting the need for companies to innovate and create products based on them.<\/p>\n

As an example, he said that demand for renewable energy is on the rise due to the SDG (clean and affordable energy), which opens up new markets for solar and wind energy companies.<\/p>\n

These measures, he considered, not only reduce the environmental impact, but can also result in cost savings.<\/p>\n

The minister indicated that companies in the Angolan market are starting to internalize the desires linked to sustainability and starting to bring these goals into companies.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe world is moving towards a sustainably accepted environment, a driver of all action, and companies must adjust\u201d, he asserted.<\/p>\n

He assured that the Government will raise awareness of the need to incorporate these themes on sustainability into the \u201cmodus operandi\u201d of companies.<\/p>\n

The III conference on Environment and Development, with the main theme \u201cImpact of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on Business\u201d, was promoted by Revista Economia e Mercado and brought together businesspeople from the oil, mining, technology and banking sectors.<\/p>\n

SDGs were established by the United Nations in 2015 as a global agenda to face social, economic and environmental challenges, among others. These objectives have been ratified by 193 countries.<\/p>\n
