Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Sixty-six thousand 471 tons of various fish were caught, from January to September this year, in the province of Namibe, according to the director of the Provincial Fisheries Office, Piedade Goanhe.<\/b><\/p>\n

The person responsible informed that of the 63 thousand 471 tons, 34 thousand 528 tons were horse mackerel.<\/p>\n

The person responsible stated that, compared to the same period of the previous year, there was an increase of 13%, since in 2022 49 thousand 084 tons were captured.<\/p>\n

“In the last nine months, the artisanal fishing segment captured 3 thousand 129 tons, the semi-industrial segment recorded 12 thousand 377 tons, while the industrial sector produced 47 thousand 965 tons”, he explained.<\/p>\n

As for the salt sector, the director of the Provincial Fisheries Office reported that, in the period under analysis, the province produced 3 thousand 820 tons, adding that six (6) salt mines are currently installed, of which 5 are operational and one is inoperative.<\/p>\n

Compared to the same previous period, Piedade Goanhe made it known that this year the salt sector grew by around 16%, given that in 2022 2 thousand 781 tons were produced.<\/p>\n

The official reported that fishing contributed 17 thousand 087 jobs, of which 10 thousand 307 in the artisanal segment and 678 in the semi-industrial sector.<\/p>\n
