MI Erikison Soares, with an Elo of 2160 (playing strength) and also a three-time national and African champion, was surprised by Specialist Cla\u0301udio Felix, with a lower ranking (1995).<\/p>\n

MI Luciano Oliveira (Elo 2128) lost to Joaquim da Costa (1988), from Nacional de Benguela.<\/p>\n

Still in the inaugural men’s round, MI Amorim Agnelo (1st of August), current absolute national champion, defeated Master FIDE (MF) Manuel Alberto (Escola JJ) and MF Domingos Ju\u0301nior (Escola Macovi) overtook Adilson Joa\u0303o ( Giga Core).<\/p>\n

In women’s, the 1.o de Agosto athlete and three-time African junior champion, MI Esperanc\u0327a Caxita (1870 Elo) beat the Macovi School specialist, Olga Da Costa (1325 Elo).<\/p>\n

MF Ednasia Ju\u0301nior (1850 Elo), from Escola Macovi, and current national champion, defeated her teammate, Ana dos Santos.<\/p>\n

The race, running until Saturday, is being contested by 18 male and 12 female athletes in a Swiss system over seven rounds.<\/p>\n

MI David Silva, absent, and MI Esperanc\u0327a Caxita are the title holders, won in 2019.<\/p>\n
