Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio, paid tribute, this Thursday, in Luanda, to the retired ambassador, Hermi\u0301nio Esco\u0301rcio, who died on September 29th, in Johannesburg, due to illness, at the age of 87. <\/b><\/p>\n

In the Book of Condolences, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio wrote that the former ambassador will forever be remembered as one of the most indispensable symbols and examples of the diplomatic class, thanks to his professional talent and qualities required for the exercise of diplomacy.<\/p>\n

The message reads that the minister bows to the memory of Hermi\u0301nio Esco\u0301rcio who dedicated his life to the cause of the Angolan nation from the liberation struggle to the consolidation of independence.<\/p>\n

The head of Angolan diplomacy presented, on behalf of the workers at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex), condolences to the bereaved family and to all those who will miss the retired ambassador, with the promise to continue his work.<\/p>\n

Hermi\u0301nio Joaquim Esco\u0301rcio, born on June 1, 1936, in the city of Lobito, province of Benguela, graduated in Economic Studies, Administration and Public Relations.<\/p>\n

He joined the MPLA in hiding and participated in the National Liberation process since 1958. He was a political prisoner, tried and convicted by a special military court under the imposition of the Portuguese Political Police (PIDE) from 1963 to 1974.<\/p>\n

He was part of the MPLA delegation that negotiated the truce with the Portuguese in the chanas of Liamege, in the province of Moxico.<\/p>\n

He coordinated the reception committee of the first MPLA delegation led by Lu\u0301cio Lara, held the position of personal secretary to President Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto – 1974\/75, having been director of Protocol and Heritage of the Presidency of the Republic and general director of Sonangol.<\/p>\n

He served as Angola’s ambassador to several countries, having completed his last mission in Argentina.<\/p>\n
