Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Petro de Luanda and Acade\u0301mica do Lobito will face each other next Saturday (7), at the Ombaka stadium, in the city of Benguela, for the decision of the Angola Super Cup, in football, at the opening of the 2023\/24 football season .<\/b><\/p>\n

The challenge between the national champion (Petro) and the defeated finalist of the Angola cup, was initially scheduled for the 3rd of September, but was postponed due to the corruption process initiated by the Disciplinary Council of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF ), in which both sets were involved.<\/p>\n

The Cateta\u0303o team, who played only two official matches this season, qualified for the group stage of the African Champions Clubs League, by beating US Songo from Mozambique, with victories (2-1 and 3-1) , in Maputo and Lubango, respectively.<\/p>\n

The capital’s “oil workers” are looking for the sixth trophy in their history, after having won them in 1987, 1993, 1994, 2002 and 2013, while the academics are debutants in this competition.<\/p>\n

Acade\u0301mica do Lobito, with more official games, defeated La Passe from the Seychelles Islands with a draw (2-2) and victory (2-1, in the first round of access to the group stage of the Confederation Cup and in the second stage, beat Al Merreikh Juba from South Sudan, with (0-0) and (3-0).<\/p>\n

A balanced challenge is expected, despite the reduced number of games each team has played.<\/p>\n

The Lobitangas have a team made up of a lot of youth, given the departure of most of the more experienced players from the previous season.<\/p>\n

As for the oil companies, they have a squad, mostly made up of athletes from the previous season.<\/p>\n

Desportivo da Hui\u0301la is the holder of the trophy, after beating Petro de Luanda on penalties (3-1), after a goalless draw in regular time.<\/p>\n
