Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The inhabitants of Onco\u0301cua, seat of the municipality of Curoca (Cunene), have had banking services since Saturday, with the inauguration of the Banco Africano de Investimento (BAI) branch, as part of the strategy of bringing services closer to the population.<\/b><\/p>\n

The branch opened by the municipal administrator of Curoca, Manuel Domingos Taby, results from Notice no 18\/22, of 11 October from the National Bank of Angola (BNA), which determines the obligation for commercial banks to create at least one bank branch in all headquarters of the 164 Angolan municipalities.<\/p>\n

The branch will handle all types of banking operations, whether individual or collective, and has five local employees, arising from the need to expand the banking network, in order to facilitate the population’s access to these services.<\/p>\n

With BAI’s services at Curoca, customers have access to account opening, remittances, credits, withdrawals, multicaixa cards, flex cards, savings and service payments.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the administrator of Curoca, Domingos Taby, said that the opening of the first bank branch in the region brought great benefits to the population, as they had to travel several kilometers to the municipalities of Cahama, Ombadja or the provincial headquarters, in sense of raising their salaries.<\/p>\n

According to the administrator, the banking institution will reverse the rate of absenteeism among administration employees and teachers who work within the municipality, who were forced to leave their jobs for one or two weeks in order to carry out banking transactions.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, he recalled that economic agents were often forced to transport large sums of valuables without security.<\/p>\n

With an area of \u200b\u200bseven thousand 998 square kilometers, the municipality of Curoca is 333 kilometers from Ondjiva and is administratively divided into two communes, namely Onco\u0301cua and Chitado, as well as 25 villages, which have 56 thousand inhabitants.<\/p>\n
