Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Artist Sam Mangwana entertained, on Friday night, in Luanda, the awards gala for the 2023 edition of Top dos Mais Queridos, an initiative by Ra\u0301dio Nacional de Angola.<\/b><\/p>\n

The artist took the stage at around 11:20 pm, thus putting a pause on the stage performance of each top competitor.<\/p>\n

The edition’s honoree started the show with the songs “Suzana”, “Fatimata”, “Galo Negro”, “Querida Pa\u0301tria”, the latter which drew great applause and whistles from the audience. With “Georgeta Marcory” and “Tio Anto\u0301nio”, those present got up to dance.<\/p>\n

From the hands of the president of the Board of Directors of Ra\u0301dio Nacional de Angola, Pedro Cabral, the artist received a diploma and honorable mention, which symbolizes the tribute to the pan-Africanist Sam Mangwana.<\/p>\n

With a short break from performing, Sam Mangwanda received messages from artists such as Dom Caetano, Dodo\u0301 Miranda, Kyaku Kyadaff, Margareth do Rosa\u0301rio and Pilantes do Huambo, the winning group of the 2021 edition of the top, among others.<\/p>\n

In a word, the artist described the videos with the messages of recognition of his career as “fantastic”.<\/p>\n

Sam Mangwana began his musical career in 1963, in the then Republic of Zaire, now the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the group African Fiesta (by Tabu Ley Rochereau), later African Fiesta National, Africa International. He collaborated with Franco’s TP OK Jazz.<\/p>\n

He formed and led the groups Festival Maquisards and African All Stars. From her vast discography, the highlight goes to “Maria Tebo\u201d (1980), among the other albums that cemented her international career in the 80s and 90s.<\/p>\n

After conquering Africa and the world as an exponent of Congolese music, he relaunched his career in the Angolan market. “Galo Negro\u201d, from 1996, is the landmark of this phase.<\/p>\n

The song “Querida Pa\u0301tria\u201d, from 2005, was released after his return to Angola, where he lived most of the time until the end of 2019.<\/p>\n
