{"id":46788,"date":"2023-10-11T18:44:01","date_gmt":"2023-10-11T18:44:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/?p=46788"},"modified":"2023-10-11T17:24:35","modified_gmt":"2023-10-11T17:24:35","slug":"angola-and-namibia-reaffirm-the-importance-of-peaceful-coexistence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/angola-and-namibia-reaffirm-the-importance-of-peaceful-coexistence","title":{"rendered":"Angola and Namibia reaffirm the importance of peaceful coexistence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola. <\/strong><\/span><b>Angola and Namibia reaffirmed, during a joint meeting held this Monday in Luanda, the importance of peaceful coexistence and good neighborliness along the common border, as well as the need to resolve the issue of settled Namibian cattle breeders in the southern part of Angola.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>According to a press release, sent this Tuesday, the commitment was reiterated during a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio, and his Namibian counterpart Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, where the parties committed to restore legality to these pasture areas in the province of Cunene.<\/p>\n<p>They highlighted the &#8220;sacrosanct&#8221; principle and the importance of respecting the rules, regulations and laws of Angola and Namibia, stressing that Namibians are welcome on condition that they obey and respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Angola.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, the two entities reviewed the Bilateral Agreement on the Circulation of People and Goods, signed in 1992, which observes interdependence, interpersonal ties and shared cultural heritage along the common border, as well as free movement in a radius of 60 kilometers.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, they reiterated their interest in preserving protected natural reserves, in harmony with the objectives and principles of the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA CFTA).<\/p>\n<p>For the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of Namibia, the Angolan authorities are to be praised for allowing Namibian cattle breeders to carry out pastoralism in Angola, due to the effects of Climate Change, ensuring that the gesture attests to the ties long-standing friendship and brotherhood characteristic between the two brotherly countries.<\/p>\n<p>The parties also agreed to carry out a Joint working visit to the province of Cunene, in Angola, and Ohangwena, in Namibia, with a view to raising awareness among local populations about the importance of peaceful coexistence and good neighborliness between the two brotherly countries, before from the end of October 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Reiterating the historical relations between the two countries and the need for the inaugural holding of the Bi-National Commission in early 2024, as a platform to strengthen trade and investment, the two ministers agreed to accelerate the finalization and signature of the bilateral agreement on Cooperation in Matters of Commerce, Cattle, Meat and Meat Products.<\/p>\n<p>The republics of Angola and Namibia cooperate in the sectors of Defense and Security, Transport, Energy and Water, Health, Oil, Tourism, Fisheries, Agriculture, Finance, Geology and Mining, among others, either bilaterally or within the framework of the Community Southern African Development Council (SADC).<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\">Angola<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola.
