Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>A seminar on customs transit in member states of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) is taking place in the city of Lobito, province of Benguela.<\/b><\/p>\n

At the meeting, which ends next Friday, experts from member states are discussing methodologies for controlling and tracking customs transit.<\/p>\n

According to the head of the CPLP Permanent Customs Secretariat, Deolinda Simo\u0303es, participants are still analyzing the constraints that may exist, and verifying the implementation of the good practices that the World Customs Organization recommends.<\/p>\n

The seminar is part of the integrated Program of cooperation and technical assistance between Portuguese-speaking countries, called PICAT VII.<\/p>\n

Deolinda Simo\u0303es also informed that, with this program, CPLP members seek to integrate all countries in the community into their experiences and provide solutions to constraints that may occur.<\/p>\n

“We will seek to implement good practices in international trade, so that Customs always has an attitude of control over merchandise and goods”, he clarified.<\/p>\n

According to her, control is essential for international trade to flow and economic agents to be part of this path.<\/p>\n

Members have already analyzed the status of the PICAT VII program, the Lobito Corridor and customs control of goods in transit.<\/p>\n

Also on the agenda is customs control of goods in transit, passing through warehouses, the Customs Transit procedure in the European Union, as well as best practices in Transit, aiming to simplify and harmonize procedures.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, PICAT VII has been ongoing since 2022 and will run until 2024, according to the CPLP Customs Secretary.<\/p>\n

“In February this year, a seminar was held in Guinea-Bissau, on the topic of tariff and non-tariff barriers”, he informed.<\/p>\n

The CPLP includes Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe and East Timor.<\/p>\n
