Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Republic of Serbia is interested in increasing, as of this year, the volume of trade with Angola, as they presented, in 2021, a value below expectations, which stood at one million and 200 thousand euros, made known, yesterday, in Luanda, the Serbian ambassador, Milos Perisic.<\/b><\/p>\n

The diplomat, who was speaking to the press at the end of his visit to the Angolan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that, despite the amount of trade being below expectations, the value will increase with the inauguration, in April of this year, from an AngoPlano biscuit and chocolate factory.<\/p>\n

According to the diplomat, the company will employ more than 50 young Angolans, in an investment estimated at US$15 million, as a demonstration of his country’s interest in increasing trade cooperation with Angola in the fields of agriculture, food production and chemical industry.<\/p>\n

“We know Angola’s potential, especially in the fields of agriculture and industry, as well as in the production of foodstuffs. We have great experience in these areas, mainly in the agricultural industry, so we want to maintain an excellent partnership with Angolan companies and with the Angola Chamber of Commerce and Industry\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

The ambassador also assured that Serbia has excellent political relations with Angola, for this reason, the time has come to establish a strategic partnership, especially in terms of increasing trade, which is far below mutual expectations.<\/p>\n

Alongside the agriculture and food industry, he said, Serbia is interested in other commercial areas, such as civil construction, energy and water treatment, where the European country has extensive experience and can be an important partner for Angola. .<\/p>\n

“We are present in civil construction and have already participated in the construction of roads, schools, health and residential posts”, he said, referring that his country also has companies linked to the oil sector that operate in the municipality of Soyo, province of Zaire.<\/p>\n

In turn, the president of the Angolan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vicente Francisco Soares, said that Serbia’s interest in increasing trade with Angola was important, as it is a strong country in the agriculture, food and chemical industry.<\/p>\n

The business manager acknowledged that currently “trade exchanges between the two countries are low”, taking into account the existing potential, he said, it is necessary to increase them, as there are several protocols signed through diplomatic channels and by business associations, which should evolve in practice, indicating that Angola wants to increase commercial cooperation with Serbia in maize production.<\/p>\n
