Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The installation of internet services in more than 150 remote locations (communes and municipalities) in the country, as well as in public and private institutions, constitutes one of the main benefits generated by ANGOSAT-2, launched on October 12, 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n

Specifically, the availability of internet in these locations, previously called \u201cgrey zones\u201d, results from the installation of more than 150 \u201cVery Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT)\u201d terminals – small antennas providing telecommunications services – which are connected through the Satellite Angolan, in an action by the business class in this sector.<\/p>\n

The respective terminals were installed in 16 of the country’s 18 provinces, where it is now possible to have access to internet services, increasingly reducing digital asymmetry, in addition to promoting technological inclusion for citizens.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne year after the launch of ANGOSAT-2, we can feel proud and satisfied with the performance of this space infrastructure, which has already allowed telecommunications operators to install VSAT terminals in more than 150 remote areas of the country\u201d, highlights the owner of the folder in this sector.<\/p>\n

Along the same path, in one year, the Angolan satellite has also enabled the creation of the \u201cConecta Angola\u201d project, a technological tool launched, last June, by the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN).<\/p>\n

This platform, part of the National Space Program, like the ANGOSAT-2 project, also aims to expand telecommunications services in areas still considered gray or without internet.<\/p>\n

With this, Conecta Angola allows the internet to be made available to citizens, in general, as well as contributing to the implementation of the digitalization process of public administration in the country, according to the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Ma\u0301rio Oliveira.<\/p>\n

Among other features, this tool can also support the civil construction sector, for example, by facilitating interaction between the contractor or specialist in charge of the work with the other participants in a given project, sending data in real time, regardless of the location where you are.<\/p>\n

In addition to Luanda, Conecta Angola is also already installed in two municipalities in the country, namely Belo Horizonte, municipality of Cunhinga, Bie\u0301 province, in June, and Canzar (Cambulo, Lunda Norte), on the 9th of this month, with forecasts of be expanded to all provinces of Angola, with emphasis on Lunda Sul, Moxico and Cuando Cubango, in the coming months.<\/p>\n

Regarding this historic achievement, the communal administrator of Canzar, Anto\u0301nio Cabuango, highlighted that the arrival of Conecta Angola in his locality represents an added value for residents, mainly for students, who will use this tool for their studies .<\/p>\n

Additionally, in addition to benefiting the commune of Canzar, which so far does not have a mobile phone network, the administrator said that internet services will also serve to support the State’s Integrated Financial Management System (SIGFE), at the level of the County.<\/p>\n

The expansion of internet services in remote areas of the country also serves to reduce digital exclusion and promote socio-economic development, as well as opening up opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and corporations to create business solutions in the space market .<\/p>\n

Contribution of ANGOSAT-2 in the extractive industry<\/p>\n

In addition to the aforementioned technological solutions, the Angolan Satellite also offers a set of services for mining, oil and agricultural companies, among other segments of the national economy.<\/p>\n

Among the technological platforms that already benefit from ANGOSAT-2 services, the highlight goes to \u201cTech-Minas\u201d, \u201cTECH-Gest\u201d, \u201cTECH-Agro\u201d and \u201cTECH-Ecologia\u201d, which use the images of this Satellite to support the monitoring of your activities.<\/p>\n

Tech-Minas, which is included in the Top 100 of the best projects in the world of artificial intelligence, being aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), allows, among others, to locate minerals with precision, generate alerts and monitor the activity of industries, according to the technician from the GGPEN Market Studies Department, Hugo do Nascimento.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Tech-Agro is available for monitoring and mapping cultivation areas, automatically identifying the type of cultivation and estimating harvest productivity.<\/p>\n

Along the same path, Tech-Ecologia is used to monitor oil spills, combat desertification and restore degraded areas, while TECH-Minas allows you to accurately locate minerals, generate alerts, monitor industrial activity, among other functions.<\/p>\n

Given the availability of these technological solutions on the national market, it is proven, once again, that ANGOSAT-2 is in the commercial phase and is being used to provide telecommunications services to national operators, according to minister Ma\u0301rio Oliveira .<\/p>\n

\u201cThe creation of the respective platforms is one of the most evident examples that ANGOSAT-2 is at the service of the Angolan nation and companies operating in Angola. We have a group of national operators that already provide communication services via the Angolan Satellite, which is working normally like any satellite operating in the world\u201d, he assured.<\/p>\n

Therefore, he continued, other companies are called upon to make the most of the capabilities of the space infrastructure, which also allows for the development of infrastructure in the country.<\/p>\n

Launched on October 12, 2022, in Russia, ANGOSAT-2 is a project by the Angolan Government that is part of the National Space Program, with the aim of reducing digital exclusion in Angola and the African continent, allowing the expansion of telecommunications services to more remote areas at competitive prices.<\/p>\n

The satellite supports a series of services, covering the African continent, with greater emphasis on the Southern region and a significant part of Southern Europe.<\/p>\n

Its transmission capacity is seven times greater than the first Angolan Satellite (ANGOSAT-1), having six “transponders” in Band C, 24 in Band KU and, as a novelty, a retransmitter in Band KA, against 16 “transponders” \u201d (relays) in the C Band and six in the KU Band of the previous device, launched unsuccessfully in 2017, from the Baikonur cosmodrome, Russia.<\/p>\n

As a High Transmission Rate (HTS) satellite, it provides 13 gigabytes in each illuminated region (areas within the satellite’s signal range), based on the Eurostar-3000 platform, with approximately 15 years of useful life.<\/p>\n

ANGOSAT-2 began construction on April 28, 2018, at the Airbus facilities in France, where the satellite’s entire payload was installed, a component that allows its operation.<\/p>\n
