Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Vice-Governor of Cuanza Norte for the Technical and Infrastructure area, Mendonc\u0327a Lui\u0301s, highlighted, this Friday, in Ndalatando, the significant role of lawyers in defending justice and citizens’ guarantees and freedoms.<\/b><\/p>\n

The government official made this statement when he was speaking at the ceremony to grant professional certificates to 17 trainee lawyers, representing the provincial governor of Cuanza Norte, Pedro Armando Makita Ju\u0301lia.<\/p>\n

He stressed that law should not be seen as a mere commercial exercise that is disruptive and unnecessary, remembering that countries that have abandoned this profession have had a number of atrocities and human rights violations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWithout advocacy there is no freedom, no rights and no justice\u201d, stressed the government official.<\/p>\n

He urged the forum’s professionals to continually seek knowledge, through reading the legal diplomas in force in the country.<\/p>\n

Addressing the trainee lawyers, he said that the act seals their commitment to the professional order and to citizens, in order to defend their heritage, honor and rights.<\/p>\n

He said that the delivery of the ballots will facilitate the exercise of advocacy activities for new lawyers.<\/p>\n

He urged them to assert the constitutional guarantees of the defendants, zealously fulfilling the mission of safeguarding and defending the interests and rights of citizens.<\/p>\n

In turn, the delegate of the Angolan Bar Association (OAA) in Cuanza Norte, Lucas Leita\u0303o, stated that with this act, the province is becoming increasingly better served, taking into account the work carried out by the professionals who have contributed to the increase in legal culture within populations.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the attribution of certificates to new trainee lawyers will ensure that no citizen is left without access to justice due to economic insufficiency.<\/p>\n

The new interns, he stated, will be available to citizens to ensure this right, through judicial sponsorship.<\/p>\n

He called on them to view the issued ballot not as a title for display as belonging to the Angolan Bar Association (OAA), but as a stimulus for commitment to defending legality, ensuring effective jurisdiction for citizens.<\/p>\n

It also constitutes a means of participation in the realization of Angola as a true Democratic State based on the rule of law.<\/p>\n

The 17 new professionals join the 37 resident lawyers, including interns and with permanent licenses, who currently practice law in the province, making a total of 52 lawyers.<\/p>\n

The increase in the number of resident professionals, aiming at the transition of local representation from the delegation body to the Provincial Council, constitutes one of the goals of this OAA body, to ensure autonomy in several areas.<\/p>\n

Intern lawyer Esperanc\u0327a Anto\u0301nio, on behalf of the rest, committed to working to increase the legal literacy of citizens, who know little about their rights and duties.<\/p>\n

They defended dignified treatment for legal professionals compatible with that given to employees of other institutions involved in the administration of justice, aiming to guarantee the effective practice of law, in accordance with the terms of the constitution.<\/p>\n

The OAA requested the promotion of continuous training, in order to monitor social and legal dynamics, for the good performance of the mission.<\/p>\n
