Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>More than 600 foreign citizens of various nationalities obtained Angolan nationality between the period 2017 to March of the current year.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was provided by the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, during the swearing-in ceremony of 13 applicants for nationality by naturalization, which took place yesterday at the Ministry’s premises.<\/p>\n

Addressing the applicants, Minister Francisco Queiroz stressed that “they are now part of the great Angolan family and come to join the more than 600 citizens who during this legislature obtained Angolan nationality through naturalization or marriage”. The minister warned the applicants to take into account the principles and rules of the Constitution of the Republic of Angola, as well as the laws in force in the country, as they are parameters and “beacons” for the behavior of all Angolans.<\/p>\n

“We hope, on behalf of the Executive, that you continue to contribute with your effort to the progress and economic and social development of the country, through your work, the creation of wealth and jobs for our Angolan brothers” , highlighted.<\/p>\n

Francisco Queiroz asked the “applicants” to remain faithful to the oath given to the homeland. This, he continued, is a public act, but also one of conscience, of morals and of binding the principles to your will to assume yourself as Angolans. The Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Francisco Queiroz, said he is sure that the country will benefit from these new Angolan brothers, who have just joined the family. For Ant\u00f3nio Manuel Pereira, of Sao Tome origin and residing in Angola for more than 10 years, the fact that he identified with the country, its customs and traditions, led him to apply for Angolan nationality.<\/p>\n

“I live in Angola, and I want to live in the same way as Angolans with full rights, so I am fully aware of what it is like to have the responsibility of assuming Angolan nationality,” Pereira underlined, making it known: “I have all my children here, therefore raised and educated with Angolan customs and values, all because I feel good in Angola”.<\/p>\n

Fel\u00edcia Fraga, despite living in Angola for 33 years and being married to an Angolan, only decided to apply for nationality last year. “It wasn’t because of my marriage or because my children were Angolan, but because of the time I’ve lived in Angola”, she stressed.<\/p>\n

He adds: “I only decided last year, because my life is consolidated here. Then came the pandemic, things got complicated, it was then that we chose to never leave here again, the whole family, which, at this moment, has the granddaughter”. Born in Lisbon and working as a businesswoman in the Energy sector, Fel\u00edcia Fraga has contributed to the country’s development through her company, which has more than 300 employees. Obtaining nationality, she made it known, was not a difficult process.<\/p>\n

For Paulo Cunha, who has been in Angola for 16 years, yesterday’s moment was the culmination of cultural integration. “I felt that this was the step of personal integration and the pride of being Angolan, so desired, in short, of being in this country that taught me so much to be happy, without any more limitations”.<\/p>\n

Unlike other testimonies, Cunha says it was a lengthy process, given that he made the request just over five years ago.<\/p>\n
