Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>“Mukixi” is the most recent literary work by university professor Alberto Muquendi, presented Friday, in Dundo, Lunda Norte province, in a sales and autograph signing session.<\/b><\/p>\n

The presentation of the 120-page book was made during the opening of the first Festival das Tradic\u0327o\u0303es edition.<\/p>\n

The work is the result of research that the author carried out in oral and written sources, having consulted figures linked to traditional power, journalists, historians and writers in the provinces of Lunda Norte, Lund Sul and Moxico.<\/p>\n

“Mukixi\u201d (clown) is an ancestral or nature spirit that is embodied by a mask in the Cokwe culture, whose character is completely covered by his own clothing and accessories, wearing a suit glued to the body made of intertwined fibers.<\/p>\n

On the sublime part of the mask’s face is a seemingly rudimentary wicker hat.<\/p>\n

Mukixi represents an emblematic figure of Lunda Cokwe culture, whose scope of impact, its historical and heritage dimension, is not limited only to the recreational-recreational perspective, but also the power of ancestry to which the people owe honor.<\/p>\n

According to the author, the book aims to highlight the figure of Mukixi in Cokwe society, highlighting its social, mystical, political and religious dimension, as well as immortalizing it in the written version.<\/p>\n

He said that the sketch divides the Akixi (plural of Mukixi) into two facets, that is, one that makes reference to the Akixi to Miatha or Mianangana (masks of chiefs or great sovereigns), representing the spirituality and ancestors of the Cokwe people, as well as the of Cikunza, Mbongo, Kaliangu and Munguenda for recreational purposes.<\/p>\n

The other part of the approach makes an incursion into the masks Cindombe (animator), Katoyo (distractor) and Kathua, which plays the role of informant of the imminence of a misfortune in the community, involving the death of a Kandandji (a child undergoing circumcision, Mukanda in Cokwe).<\/p>\n

With the work “Mukixi”, Alberto Muquendi brings the number of books he has authored to two, the first being released in 2016, with the title “Leadership in School Context, Case Study of the Cambulo Teacher Training School\u201d.<\/p>\n
