Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The president of the National Assembly (AN), Carolina Cerqueira, pointed out, this Monday, in Luanda, the need to promote and maintain institutional and social peace and parliamentary dialogue as a weapon for building a more demanding and more mature.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the opening of the Parliamentary Year of the Fifth Legislature, Carolina Cerqueira stressed that institutional duty does not allow creating spaces for fractures of the Democratic Rule of Law, which is why everyone is called to participate in the construction of this Nation with the sense and spirit of individual responsibility and collective.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur main mission is to protect the values \u200b\u200bof the Democratic Rule of Law of which all parliamentarians are the primary guardians\u201d, he asserted.<\/p>\n

For the current parliamentary year, Carolina Cerqueira stated that the intention is to continue working to make the House of Laws a mirror of political diversity and democracy, as relevant assumptions for national unity and cohesion and social inclusion, sacred values \u200b\u200bto be cultivated as heritage common collective for an Angola of the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe example that parliament projects for society represents the popular choice to be the reflection of a mature society behaved by respect and tolerance, not allowing ideas or projects to flourish that could justify disrespect for the law and democratic institutions\u201d, he asserted.<\/p>\n

He called for the common good and respect for institutions to be guaranteed in the trenches of ideas and political dialectics.<\/p>\n

According to the official, whoever promotes conflict and who disrespects institutions will bear the burden of this historic error and will be responsible for breaking social and political peace and the most basic, hard-won democratic duties.<\/p>\n

For Carolina Cerqueira, it is necessary to defend national integrity, not allowing any alienation of the territory and initiatives that contradict the constitutional principles of the unity of the Angolan State and the indivisibility of its sovereignty.<\/p>\n

Carolina Cerqueira hopes that during the current legislature work will be done in a closer and more coordinated way, encouraging the Head of State to continue with the agenda of social support for families and to mitigate social needs.<\/p>\n

He added that we face a complex legislative year 2023-2024, marked by an international situation that has negatively affected the economic and social stability of the states.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike other African countries, Angola is witnessing the galloping growth of its population, so the challenge for development is for everyone and in favor of everyone. Never before has Angola faced such an overwhelming challenge. Never like today, the Executive branch, State bodies and the nation in general have faced a challenge of such magnitude. No matter how much we do, this galloping population growth always makes access to goods difficult to meet the growing needs of populations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In his view, the legislative power in this task of sustainable development is also an essential pillar upon which falls a set of responsibilities to help create a promising economic environment capable of improving the quality of life of all Angolans.<\/p>\n

The solemn opening session of the 2023-2024 Parliamentary Year was attended by the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperanc\u0327a Costa, magistrates, deputies, assistants to the Holder of Executive Power, diplomatic corps accredited in Angola, traditional authorities, among other guests.<\/p>\n

This is the seventh time, second in the current term, that President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o will present the message on the state of the Nation, in line with the constitutional imperative.<\/p>\n
