Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, stated, this Monday, that talking about the State of the Nation is the sole and exclusive competence attributed by the Constitution to the Head of State.<\/b><\/p>\n

When speaking at the Solemn Opening Session of the second Legislative year of the V Legislature, he said that \u201cany attempt to make a speech on the State of the Nation will be a mere illegitimate exercise of usurpation of the powers that the Constitution confers only and exclusively on the Head of State , which is a singular entity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o said he presented a Nation \u201cpermanently dynamic and transforming, which faces the challenges of these times of international uncertainty, but is confident and determined not to give up on its main objective, which is to build a society of peace, justice and social progress for all Angolans\u201d.<\/p>\n

During his speech, he also said that on September 15, 2022, following the general elections that gave legitimacy to the President of the Republic and the deputies to the National Assembly, he swore \u201con my honor to carry out my duties with all dedication, fulfill and enforce the Constitution and Laws, defend independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, peace and democracy, as well as promoting stability and social progress for all Angolans”.<\/p>\n

This oath, he said, remains valid and will be honored until the last day of the five (5) year term legitimately conferred by Angolans.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he said that current and future generations have a duty to protect and defend the Homeland, as well as perpetuating the legacy of peace, building a reconciled nation, an indispensable prerequisite for Angola for all.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o argued that \u201cfor genuine reconciliation, the ability to use mutual forgiveness and to honor the many victims of the various conflicts is necessary.<\/p>\n

He argued that it was in this spirit that the commission for the implementation of the reconciliation plan in memory of the victims of political conflicts (also known as CIVICOP) was created, as well as it was in this same spirit that the Angolan Head of State, on behalf of the State and in a solemn moment, he publicly apologized and forgiven the victims of the conflicts and Angolans in general.<\/p>\n
