Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The installed capacity of electricity produced in Angola is around six thousand 283 Megawatts and responds to a demand that currently records a consumption of two thousand 375 Megawatts, the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, informed Mondy.<\/b><\/p>\n

To reverse the current reality, as supply exceeds distribution, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o highlighted the need to prioritize investment in energy transmission and distribution networks, as well as in household connections.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are producing more energy than we are consuming\u201d, concluded the Holder of the Executive Branch, in his speech on the State of the Nation, at the Solemn Opening Session of the 2023-2024 Parliamentary Year of the V Legislature.<\/p>\n

The President of the Republic specified that the national electrical matrix comprises 59.7% hydroelectric energy, 35.7% thermal energy, 3.8% solar energy, 0.5% hybrid energy.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that 63.6% of the energy produced in Angola is clean, from non-polluting sources, and environmentally friendly.<\/p>\n

He mentioned that the national interconnection project will allow the existing production capacity in the North region to be transferred to other regions of the country, reducing production using fossil fuels and reducing operational costs with fuel and maintenance, also contributing to the environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o explained that, in the electrical field, the North and Center regions are currently interconnected, benefiting a total of 10 provinces, and the project to interconnect the South and East regions is underway.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are working under the conditions precedent to begin the project to build high voltage transmission lines, the Huambo \u2013 Lubango – Namibe, Lubango-Ondjiva and Humabo – Menongue connections. To achieve the interconnection between the North and the East, we will build the Malanje – Xa\u0301-muteba-Saurimo transmission line\u201d, detailed the President.<\/p>\n

According to Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, when the Dundo-Lucapa-Saurimo-Camanongue transmission line is built, the North, Center, South and East systems will be interconnected, with almost the entire country using the energy produced by the Soyo combined cycle, by the hydroelectric dams of Lau\u0301ca, Cambambe and Capanda, already interconnected.<\/p>\n

These electrical systems, according to the President, will be reinforced in the future with the energy to be produced by the Caculo Cabac\u0327a dam \u2013 the largest of all, when it is completed and comes into operation.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo reach the home of each Angolan family, we also need to pay attention to the distribution of household connections and rural electrification\u201d, said Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, highlighting that the electrification rate has been increasing gradually and solidly over the last few years, having gone from 36% in 2017 to 43% in the first quarter of 2023, aiming to reach an electrification rate of 50% in 2027.<\/p>\n

In his speech, he also said that \u201chaving more energy will involve the construction of photovoltaic parks in several locations, and informed that the Caraculo solar park in the province of Namibe has been completed, with a capacity of 25 Megawatts, and should be expanded in the near future. to 50 MW, as five more parks are under construction in different provinces.<\/p>\n

He added that another 100 Megawatts of clean energy will be available in 2025, with the completion of the Kilemba photovoltaic power plant, in the province of Hui\u0301la.<\/p>\n

He said that it is expected to conclude, by 2027, a broad rural electrification program, already underway, to bring electrical energy to the countryside using photovoltaic energy in several provinces, in a total of 126 locations, to benefit around three million people. Angolans, in rural areas.<\/p>\n

To continue increasing access to electrical energy, said the Executive Power Holder, other projects are underway, with emphasis on the Caculo Cabac\u0327a Hydroelectric Plant, in Cuanza Norte, which will produce 2172 Megawatts, Matala 48 MW, Luachimo, in Lunda Norte, with 34 MW, Cunge, Bie\u0301, with 1.8 MW.<\/p>\n

He added that electrification projects are still underway in several municipal and communal headquarters in some provinces.<\/p>\n

He added that the construction project for the Capanda \u2013 Malanje transmission line is being carried out at an advanced stage, with plans to begin construction work on the transmission lines to connect (Lumaume) to Huambo, Buco Zau and Belize, as well as the reinforcement, expansion and modernization of the electrical networks in Mbanza Congo, in Zaire, Cazenga, Cacuaco, Viana, in Luanda.<\/p>\n

He also announced that the construction of the solar parks in Malanje, Catete, Cainda, Lucapa, Luena, Saurimo, Cuito and Bailundo will soon begin.<\/p>\n

He said that it is planned to expand the electricity network in the Eastern region with new distributions to a total of 60 locations, in the provinces of Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul, Moxico, Bie\u0301 and Malanje.<\/p>\n

We will also, he added, expand the electricity network in the South region, with new distribution networks for a total of 65 locations, in the provinces of Hui\u0301la, Cunene, Cuando Cubango, for the benefit of the inhabitants of these regions.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope to begin, as soon as possible, the construction of electricity transmission lines and associated substations to connect Xa\u0301-muteba-Saurimo, Huambo-Lubango, Dundo-Lucapa-, Saumiro-Camanome, Gove \u2013 Menongue\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n
